Rap-Up.com || And the 2011 Grammy Nominees Are…

Eminem leads the pack with 10 nominations at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, it was announced today in Los Angeles. Bruno Mars follows with seven; Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Lady Antebellum each earn six; John Legend and B.o.B score five; and Drake, Rihanna, Cee Lo Green, Katy Perry, and Alex Da Kid get four nods apiece.

Music’s biggest night will air live from L.A.’s Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. on CBS.

“Passion, Pain, & Pleasure” was released before Grammy Deadline and it’s Gold, how is it not nominated for Best Contemporary r&b album?

Regardless of if you are fans of someone or not, you have to be logical enough to see who was snubbed.

Congrats to El Debarge and Chris Brown. “Deuces” was a number one record for a record breaking amount of time so it’s deserved.

Congratulations to C Breezy on his three Grammy nominations! Yaaaassss!’Deuces’ was one of the best records of the year! It spent 10 weeks at No. 1 and broke a record! So glad it got a nom.

He should have gotten a nom for ‘Crawl’ though. It was such a great record lyrically and vocally. SMH!

I think ‘Take My Time’was kinda of random, but I am happy either way!

This list seems weird. i.e. “Halo”, a song from 2008 which I thought was already nominated, got nominated. Songs that weren’t even released as singles, i.e. “Take My Time” by Chris Brown & Tank, got nominated. Artists I’m sure a good few have never heard of got nominated, and for big awards, too. This is too awkward and indifferent… but I guess this list wasn’t made on fan-dom and Billboard like other award shows. I just hope the performances are based on fan-dom and Billboard like other award shows. :D

A sex song is about sex, describing sex, or set for a sexual situation.

“Can’t Be Friends” is about a failing platonic relationship. The relationship USED to have sex, and that’s what messed it up but the song is about the after affects of that relationship.

Only half the songs on Trey Songz “PPP” and “Ready” (which was nominated for Grammy’s last yers) are sex songs. People assume it’s about about sex for him because he realised to very sexual videos (Invented Sex & Neighbors Know My Name) but in actuality he sings about love, flirting, breakups, and clubbing .

Why can’t you all be happy for all the nominees without so much hate, I mean really! Yes CB got nominated, so what, this is really ridiculous. Deuces is a great song and did very well on the charts. Graffiti didn’t sell good at all, but there was still some great songs on the album. I wish you all will let the past be the past and move on. Yet, it was once said he stans are bitter, they are not the bitter ones, it’s the individuals with all the hate. Congrats to ALL the nominees.

The Grammy’s are nothing more than a popularity contest, if you are popular, more than likely, you are going to win regardless if you deserve it or not. Regardless, I am glad for CB, even though he probably won’t win, can’t hate on Deuces, it is what it is, I am not hating, just saying.

People don’t forget, the Grammy’s choose the nominees based on submissions from the record labels. The record labels have to submit their artists for EACH category that they think they should be nominated for. The Grammy’s are more complicated than you think.

Damn! This list is crazy! Some big surpises and some serious snubs! SMH! Where do I begin??

I am not surprised at Em at all! He had a great year. We all knew ‘LTWYL’ was gonna slay and ‘Recovery’ was a good album and deserved praise.

Alicia & Sade were snubbed! ‘Unthinkable’ should have gotten something and Sade should have gotten Best Album! Even Usher could have gotten more!

CB definitely deserved his nom for ‘Deuces’! One of the hottest songs of the year! He just has some stiff competition in that category!

I didn’t like ‘Take My Time’ and I was SHOCKED to see his nom for ‘Graffit’! But it was a pretty good album. Definitely underated!

Katy Perry horrible as vocals over X-Tina ‘You Lost Me’, ‘Lift Me Up’ for best Female Vocal Performance?? Blasphemy!!!

I wasn’t surprised to see Justin Bieber, but he won’t win though. Hopefully Drake will take it home.

Rihanna should have gotten something for Rated R. ‘Russian Roulette’, ‘Cold Case Love’, something. SMH. ! Rated R wasn’t a bad album. Much better than this Loud sh*t!

SMH! People (Rih stans *cough *Lexus *cough*) need to stop hatin on CB and accept the fact that he got nominated THREE TIMES!! One was for a hot MIXTAPE song,’Deuces’! The first mixtape song EVER to get a Grammy Nod! One for a song about sex, ‘Take My Time’ that barely anyone even heard! Lol! And one for, YES, wait for it, BEST CONTEMPORARY R&B ALBUM!!! #POW

‘Graffiti’ WAS a GREAT album! It showed growth and maturity as an artist and was really deep. He had some lame frivoulous songs on there such as ‘ICTY’ & ‘What I Do’ but he mostly had some really deep well written songs as well.

‘Crawl’ & ‘I Need This’ were GREAT ballads vocally and lyrically and had great production as well.

‘Graffit’ (the bonus track) & “Fallen Down’ were really deep and personal.

He had some smooth r&b records such as ‘Movie’ & ‘Take My Time’.

Club bangers like ‘Wait’ & ‘What I Do’.

Europop records like ‘Pass Out’ &’I.Y.A’.

Cute catchy songs such as ‘Sing Like Me’ & ‘I Love You’.

‘Graffiti’ was truly a well rounded, personal and eclectic album. If some of you Rih stans would pull your head out of her ass and listen to music before judging it you would know. It doesn’t matter about critics or sales! The Grammy committee have spoken and they feel that ‘Graffiti’ is a Grammy worthy album! Deal with it!

So happy for Chris. I love love love Graffiti! And I was surprised Deuces was on there because it was from FOAF, a mixtape. But it was a cool song, and it did great on the charts so I see why it’s nominated. Congrats to everyone who was nominated! Now I can’t wait for the performances…
