Flo Rida Wants Lil Wayne on ‘Only One’ Sequel
Flo Rida had no qualms when it came to the cold New York weather on Wednesday night (Dec. 1), as the Miami-based rapper stayed warm inside the game-inspired lounge Carnival while promoting the release of his third album Only One Flo (Part 1). Decked out in a black Louis Vuitton sweater and sunglasses, Flo partook in the activities, which included dart throwing and ping-pong ball tossing into goldfish bowls.
Known for his heavy bass, club banging singles, Flo Rida surely goes by the motto, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Even though Part 1 of his album just dropped this week, he’s already thinking about the “edgier” follow-up, Only One Rida (Part 2). “The next album definitely shows some growth and it won’t be the fact that it differs in sound,” he tells staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud. “It definitely has to be hot and bumpin’.” With features from Ludacris, Gucci Mane, and Akon on the first part, Flo promises the sequel will feature a cameo from an artist even he is excited about. “I look forward to [Lil] Wayne being on the next one,” he admits.
The “Low” rhymer prides himself on being versatile and will “step it up a notch” with the new material. Just don’t expect all of his forthcoming tunes to be crafted in a state-of-the-art establishment. “When I’m on the road, a lot of times I don’t get a chance to go to professional studios,” Flo Rida explains. “I might just tell my boys, ‘Pick up the equipment and let’s just start coming up with some beats,’ right there on the spot. Then I’ll just come up with some lyrics.”
Flo Rida’s spontaneity comes through on tracks like the David Guetta-produced “Club Can’t Handle Me.” He and the French DJ created the track over the Internet. “We talked about collaborating in the Bahamas,” he continues. “We got back home and I was just like, ‘Hey, man, we gotta do this.’ So he went back and forth sending me the production across the Internet. We came up with lyrics for the beat that we have for [‘Club Can’t Handle Me’] and we definitely love it.”
While most of his supporters have heard his latest effort already, the devout Jimi Hendrix fan still has some surprises up his sleeve when it comes to future endeavors, even if they aren’t planned just yet. For example, he has a desire to work with R&B singers like Beyoncé. As Flo continues to flourish, those wondering how he does it can take note. “It’s not the fact that I just want to do rock or anything like that,” he states. “When it happens… I just let the magic happen.”
