Entertainment Weekly’s Best and Worst Albums of 2010
Kanye West tops yet another best of 2010 list. This time, Mr. West receives the honors from Entertainment Weekly, who called his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy “a dense, dazzling rap masterpiece.” Also making the critic’s cut on the urban side is Big Boi’s solo debut and Janelle Monáe’s The ArchAndroid. In addition, the pop culture magazine shared their worst albums of the year, with Lil Wayne’s rap-rock hybrid Rebirth claiming the undesired No. 1 spot. But if “6 Foot 7 Foot” is any indication, we have a feeling Weezy won’t be anywhere near this list next year with Tha Carter IV.

i actually like Rebirth. it was a well produced album with good Pop/Rock songs. It definitely filled a niche which was missing. Everyone else was out trying ‘Dance-Rap’ while Weezy took a completely different direction with Rock. What were people expecting him to do; a Treats? Sure it wasn’t so experimental of the genre but it was still good. And Bionic was good too. Xtina just came out at the wrong time i guess?

It seems that Arcade Fire might be good! I might have to check them out. I guess Kanye dominates again, and I’m so glad Janelle, Robyn, and Big Boi made it. Those albums are classics.
BTW, to all those confused about Christina making worst album list, can you honestly tell me you’d rather listen to Bionic than Stripped or Back to Basics? Bionic will be forgettable; in fact, six months from now, you’ll be more concerned about her next venture to even remember Bionic.

This to all those Christina fans. I’m HUGE Christina fan and BIONIC wasn’t that good of album as “Back To Basics” was. On BOINIC I still have about 7 tracks that I like “Lift Me Up” and “Vanity”. She strike out this go around; maybe she will get her head back in the right place for the album.

‘Rebirth’ was, in my opinion, not the worse album of 2010. It wasn’t a rock album, and it wasn’t a hip-hop album. It was different. And I like the creativity of Lil’ Wayne throughout the track. Yes, it wasn’t a masterpiece, but I don’t think it was the worse of 2010. Also, this album at least had decent sales. It sold 265,000 copies in its first two weeks and has sold over 700,000 copies to date. You know which album I think was the worst of 2010, and wasn’t even on the list? ‘The DeAndre Way’ by Soulja Boy. All the tracks were pretty bad with the exception of 1, maybe 2. And, this album only sold 21,000 copies in its first 2 weeks of sales. Not very impressive at all…

Bionic was alllrriiigghhtt. I’m more of a fan of her “Stripped” days where she was dressing slutty and singing different styles (Infatuation, Loving Me 4 Me, Walk Away). Back 2 Basics was ok but seemed a little force with trying to re-create the soul-era (Primo did his thing). No doubt she is one of the best singers of our time but as far as artistry is concerned I think she is losing her identity.
And Ciara stans…. you know damn well that album shouldn’t be on the best of 2010. Just stop it, really.

To all you folks who are saying Kanye’s album was good not great, so on and so fourth in this day and age for a pop/rap artist to put out an album as musically diverse, different from the norm, and out of the box and still appeal to a mainstream audience like he did w/My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is remarkable. In my opinion its one of the all around greatest records since Amy Winehouse put out ‘Back to Black’. It’s an incredible body of work. It is leaps and bounds ahead of any music or album put out this year by any artist.
PS-Are we really putting something by Bret Michaels on the best and worst list of anything when it comes to music? That worst spot was a waste.

Bionic was amazing! The people saying this album is not her obviously don’t know who Christina is. She’s the most creative and artistic of today’s mainstream popstars. Christina has always been a woman of many styles since day one. Just because she’s one of the best vocalists does not mean she’s just going to sing ballad after ballad. Christina has so much more to offer and she’s stated she’s not going to be a ballads artist. This woman has done an excellent job of bringing producers and artists to the mainstream instead of just using Timbaland, RedOne, Max Martin & Dr. Luke. People are just mad because Christina can do dance music better than their faves and any other style. Bionic is one of the most eclectic and innovative pop albums in a while. She gave us every subgenre of dance music on that album and keeps pushing herself artistically. That’s what makes her an artist because she’s fearless and has the best voice of this generation. Our greatest artists are the ones that keep pushing themselves even if they risk commercial success. Whitney, Mariah and Aretha would never take these risks, but the fact that Christina can hang with them vocally yet she can hang with Janet & Madonna creatively and artistically is amazing. She’s one of a kind and will be far more appreciated in the future. Mariah has all these hits, but she doesn’t have half the respect of Whitney because she played it safe her entire career.

i don’t know why ppl are saying Rihanna’s Loud needs to be on the best albums list when all that album has is nothing but radio songs. I like California King Bed, but what the hell is that song about anyway. Only Girl is boring as hell, What’s My Name is cute, but that’s it. She has two versions of LTWYL, why, okay Rihanna we understand you were in a domestic abuse situation, but you don’t have to keep singing about it damn. S&M, Raining Men, Skin and Man Down were the only songs that really left me at a lost for words on Loud. The rest of that album is just typical Rihanna: radio friendly songs that seem kind of over produced and rushed just to get some new music out, and I’m not even hating on Rihanna because I bought Loud for $8.99 at Best Buy on Black Friday. As a die hard Ciara stan, Basic Instinct wasn’t a great album to me, it was good, but not great, but I’d include it on a best albums of 2010 list before Loud.

People who didn’t hear the album deny it, but the people who did listen were set into a mind controlling stance.
Eminem could have never created this, neither could any other artist. So, Kanye deserves the number 1 spot.

The list is such a crap. Why is Kanye West even first at the best albums of 2010? Speak Now should be or maybe the Gift with their satisfacting debuts or Recovery by Eminem as well as Loud and Teenage Dream. They’re very successful and critics love ‘em. As for the worsts, why the heck Bionic was there? >.<; Bionic was a masterpiece but wasn't released in the right time since Lady Gaga owns this year (If Lady Gaga wasn't even around) I'm sure that Bionic wouldn't be a flop. :/ ; I hate to disagree but I think Entertainment Weekly is deaf/mute and blind. :/

Bionic was GOOD! It wasn’t her best work but it sure was her most creative one. Hell! That album was better than Rihanna’s “Loud” Rihanna’s album was all sex & very generic. Bionic just had low sales, doesn’t mean it was a bad album.
