50 Cent Wants You to Miss Him

50 Cent

50 Cent has been making headlines for his business ventures and rumored relationship with Chelsea Handler, but he’s not quite ready to return to music. If you’ve been wondering why the hip-hop mogul has been taking so long to release a new album, that’s because he wants you to miss him.

“I haven’t been putting out new music cause I think people need to miss me. I go hard everybody knows this,” tweeted 50 in response to those asking when his next project will drop.

The “I Get Money” hitmaker began recording his fifth studio album last year. “It’s still got a soulful vibe to it and that’s why I called it Black Magic,” he previously told Rap-Up.com of the follow-up to 2009’s Before I Self Destruct. “I had some Marvin Gaye-inspired stuff, some things that content-wise would feel like something Curtis Mayfield would do from my perspective, and just the choices of how the cadences on the records were like performance music that they did in the past. It feels brand new.”

The rapper has been in the studio with Lil’ Kim, Akon, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, and Lloyd Banks, among others for the set, which has no release date.

Just last week, he was in Las Vegas to launch his Sleek by 50 Cent wireless headphones at the Consumer Electronics Show. Shares of the parent company’s stock rose by 290 percent after 50 talked it up on Twitter, reportedly earning him $8.7 million. “You can double your money right now. Just get what you can afford,” he advised his followers.

well that just ruins the effect. once you tell people you want to be missed, they most likely wont miss you as much anymore.

wow well I can understand if he takes his time but taking a break so people will miss him is dumb.

He’ll just let the little popularity he has fade even more & when he comes back barely anyone will care (unless the single us hot)

There’s a difference in not over-saturating yourself, and just letting yourself fade into oblivion. If 50 can come back with something that even resembles the fire he had on his first 2 albums then I’m all 4 it

I certainly don’t miss 50 Cent. He’s just not a progressive artist. All his music sounds the same to me. He sticks to the same formula and that is talking about sex, violence, and drugs. I don’t think he’ll ever achieve close to the success that he did from 03′-05′. But at the end of the day, he’s a business man and he knows how to make his money. Can’t hate on him for that.

50 Cent was one of the best rappers in the early 2000s. 50 Cent fell off real hard, just like Kyle said, 50 Cent never reinvents himself. Ever since he first came out, he only talks about sex, violence, drugs, being a pimp, and getting money. There is more to life then just sex and violence. Get Rich or Die Tryin is a great album, The Massacre was decent, but 50 Cent fell off with Curtis. Curtis was terrible, and Before I Self Destruct was below average. Unless 50 Cent comes back with something relevant, artsy, and very hot, then 50 Cent will be just as irrelevant as Soulja Boy when it comes to being a rapper. Nobody is calling 50 Cent a top 10 rapper right now, except for his hardcore fans. Until he challenge himself as an artist, he won’t be relevant again.

He should have said he was taking time for inspiration.

You need topics for decent rap. Maybe he could go to prison!

He needs to work with Scott Storch again.

    *cries* I MISS YOU, 50!
What a joke, nobody miss him. I’m sorry, I respect him so much for what he did to Em and some of his music is the best rapmusic ever. But I did miss Em when he was gone, I have no problem with 50. You see him every day in every newspaper, every song on youtube with small kids tryna be cool. We can’t miss him, when he’s not gone.

@TRA you fucking stupid, get rich & massacre are both regarded as classics, and curtis was a dope album, his last album was decent tho. how da fuck you gonna compare 50 to soulja fag ? 50 is irrelevant ? wtf ? are you outta ur mind ?.

    [Reply]

  27. TRA

lol I’m not stupid and I’m not out my mind. If you read my previous post, I said that Get Rich Or Die Tryin was a great album. I said The Massacre was a decent album, even though I don’t believe The Massacre is a classic. Get Rich Or Die Tryin is a classic, but his last three albums were inconsistent. I agree that 50 Cent is a better rapper than Soulja Boy. The reason that I thought 50 Cent is similar to Soulja Boy is because 50 Cent never reinvents himself as an artist, Soulja Boy has that same problem. In Da Club is no diffrent from Candy Shop, Candy Shop is no diffrent from Amusement Park. Striaght To The Bank is no diffrent from I Get Money. 50 Cent uses the same formula since his 1st album, 85 percent of 50 Cent’s rap lyrics talks about sex, money, and violence. Before I Self Destruct only sold 500,000 copies. That is his worst selling album ever, even though it went gold. If you ask people who are not hardcore fans of 50 and not biased, they will tell 50 Cent is not as hot as he use to be. 50 Cent can always do music based on the major success of his 1st album, but he has made anything spectacular in a long time. If he doesn’t come back hard, then he will continue to use the same formula. In order for him to become the No. 1 rapper again, he needs to do something better than Before I Self Destruct, plain and simple.

Drake, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, T.I., and other rappers have overshadowed 50 Cent over the last 4 years. Drake’s 1st album sold more than 50 Cent’s last album Before I Self Destruct. Gangster rap has gotten played out years ago, 50 was at the top in early 2000s, but he hasn’t made a big smash in 3 to 4 years. Unless 50 come out with a new album that is on the same level as his 1st album, he will be finish. The ball is in his court, let’s see if he can dunk it or not.

@TRA, r u crazy,50 destroyed rick ross wit like 2 songs, and 50 is way smarter and better than t.i no comparison, lil wayne acted like a bitch towards 50,he even said i don’t want problems wit him, what a little girl he would get bullyed but 50 any day, kanye sold 1 or 2 more copies than 50 but he is still no where near what 50 acomplished, and drake iz like a little boy 2 50,he would kill drake easily and his youngmoney buddies won’t do shit, 50 will kill them and he doesn’t need g unit.and if g unit was there youngmoney should not compete anyways cause it would be over before it even started

I will be very surprised if 50 has a future in music. He’s a shrewd businessman, and will probably always be successful, but he’s just not innovative musically or lyrically. Maybe he should just make the jump into acting.

^^ that is the rational, unbiased version of my thoughts.

    my own opinion:

50 fucking done, yeezy killed him and rick ross dumped the body

    [Reply]

  31. TRA

I agree with John, my unbiased opinion, and heart says that 50 Cent will forever have money, and make music, since his 1st album is a classic. 50 Cent will have one more album to prove that he can still make good music like his 1st album, he can be relevant again, after that he is done. My mind is telling me that 50 Cent’s next album will be worser than Before I Self Destruct. 50 Cent lost the battle with Kanye. Rick Ross killed 50 Cent with B.M.F. and Rick Ross’ Teflon Don destroyed 50 Cent’s last album. My mind doubts 50 Cent can come back from that embarrasing loss to Rick Ross.
