Janelle Monae perhaps, but Usher will be a strong contender.

I’ve acutally heard almost every album here. But I think it’s going to be between Usher and Janelle Monae.

Janelle definitely deserves it, imo, but I agree that oftentimes the Grammys look at popularity. Too bad. But the quality of her album is fact, whether it’s recognized by them or not.

I agree with From Tokyo, sometimes the Grammy’s tend to lean towards popularity and in the case I think Usher would easily take it. BUT, if they decide to honor a groundbreaking, genre-defying album then I hope Janelle Monae takes it! Her album is one of the best of 2010 hands down.

what’s dat question??
chris brown did a real good job
graffiti is a work of genius
impressive
everybody has to listen to this (the deluxe edition) this is real music
i just hope the grammy assiociation don’t look at the number of sale or don’t make win just the people who are presents in the room or the comerial’s shits

all of them are great you would think that the grammy’s would change it up and let others win, but they just gives the grammy to who ever they love the most.

I would want it to be Ryan Leslie, just cause I love his music, but that album wasn’t one of my favorites.
I think Janelle might get it. I got bored of her album, but probably was the most memorable one out of the nominations. If not Janelle then Usher (whos album I liked) will get it.

I hope that Chris Brown wins. I believe that he deserves to win because he has done so much to get back to the position he is in now. I think winning this award will give him that extra boost and it will also let the world see that he has matured. oh and GRAFFITI was amazing.. nothing short of genius!

I really hope Chris wins, but I think he will not win a Grammy because of the past drama surrounding the album, but next year I think Chris will finally get his Grammy wins 2012.

Chris Brown has popularity now, and is making good music — now. BUT, last year’s Graffiti f yall didn’t realize, has a 39/100 on Metacritic. It was not viewed well AT ALL by critics. So sorry Team Breezy, maybe next year, but not this year. Don’t get your hopes up. This isn’t “Deuces”, “Yeah 3x” or “Look At Me Now” is all that other mess.

This is a tough category. Artist like Janel and Ryan Leslie usually get overlooked so the fact they got nominated is dope, but I don’t see them winning
R. Kelly is a legend, and for the most part he puts out quality material, but I really don’t see him winning this one.
I really think it is between Usher and Chris but I really hope Chris takes it home! Usher had a great year as far as sales and hits, but Chris put his heart into that album and this would mean so much to him! Graffiti was blackballed and un fairly judged by the critics! Getting this Grammy nomination proved that it was a good album that got over looked. If he won that would certify his comeback!

@lolsmileyface: OBVIOULSY critics don’t matter when it comes to Grammy’s or ‘Graffiti’ wouldn’t have been nominated in the first place! There were dozens of other albums that could have been nominated that got better reviews but they choose ‘Graffiti’ for a reason. It wasn’t just luck!
He may not win, but the Grammy’s don’t give a f*ck about critics when it comes to deciding who wins!

Who deserves it: janelle or Ryan
Who will win: janelle or usher
The grammys don’t always go after what is the most popular but rather what was just a great album and janelles
Was obviously it…..
The others were a bit cliche except kellz and Ryan who had a touch of old school that was good…. But like ii said janelle all the way
[Reply]
February 9th, 2011 at 12:10 pm
If the Grammys have any credibility left they’ll give it to Janelle Monae! That’s by far the better of the five….
Chris is probably the worst of the bunch so I doubt anyone thinks he’ll win it ( well except his stans)
Ush might take it but idk….

….
SO you just have to dig a hole and jump in!!
chris brown has the best artists on his songz, the new and the old
even pharell king dedicate songz to him
everybody in the game respect him because he doesn’t look everywhere there are comercials shits.. he does it with the heart, records everywees and he’ s the best performer

Janelle Monae definitely deserves to win, it stands out amongst all of them and it was so critically acclaimed. One of the best albums of 2010 and it’s far better than Breezy, Usher and R. Kelly but I haven’t heard Ryan Leslie’s one yet…

Sales shouldn’t count towards Grammys, it should be the music i.e. the lyrical content and everything else included or else Janelle wouldn’t even have a nom.
[Reply]
February 9th, 2011 at 2:13 pm
I don’t understand how Graffiti is the 14th worst reviewed album on Metacritic yet it still got a Grammy nom, so either music has reached an all time low or the world’s gone insane. Another reason to vote for Janelle!

The Grammys have gone completely downhill and as much as I think Janelle Monae’s album was great and deserves this award, Usher will likely get it. I also wouldn’t mind Breezy getting it, because Graffiti was a superb album, FAR superior to his others. But Janelle Monae is so talented and outshines them all on this one. Raymond V Raymond had hits but overall it wasn’t a particularly good album.

TA2802 The only reason Chris album had bad reviews is because people couldn’t see past 2009 incident.
Crawl was a beautiful song. So the grammy nominated Chris because they know the album was good.

February 9th, 2011 at 5:39 pm
@TA2802 – If only that were true. It’s been some legitimately great albums that have been snubbed for commercial successes time and time again and so that’s why I remain skeptical. I HOPE she wins, though even if she doesn’t the album will still be great. I would have nominated Janelle for Best Album of the Year.

Janelle Monae changed the game of music so I think she deserves it. All you teeny bopper lames need to jump off the Chris Brown wagon. Graffiti was garbage and doesn’t even compare to the “Arch Android”. That album is trendsetting not just another average release.

I would have put ur opinion in consideration if u werent a crazy chris brown stan… The fact is that wasn’t a good album, that’s not shade that’s the truth…
Maybe Its because I don’t think about music based on looks or maybe I’m just not a delusional female stan who has fxcked up opinions on domestic violence but like I said and I’ll reiterate

Some of u try and seem impartial when speaking about chris cd graffiti but you fail when you bring up things like dv or say its garbage. One, what does dv have to do with an album being good? Second the album apparently wasn’t garbage considering it got nominated for a grammy.
My point is stop the hate.If you dislike him fine but every artist in this category deserves to be there.
I personally want chris or janelle to win because to be honest besides “there goes my baby” I cant remember any other good songs off of usher album.
But i’ll be happy for whoever wins

For me what makes an album great is not following the trend. I don’t feel there is creativity when artists use the same producers as their competition. Everything sounds the same and no one is breaking new ground. Look at all the rnb dudes.. where is THAT album??? That album that separates one artists from the rest. Nowhere to be found.. Albums that are fearless with creativity and lyricism are what im looking for.
