The Grammys are getting a shot of girl power. Last night, Jennifer Hudson joined Christina Aguilera, Florence + the Machine’s Florence Welch, Martina McBride, and Yolanda Adams during a rehearsal for their tribute performance to Aretha Franklin, opening Sunday’s broadcast.

The quintet practiced a medley of some of the Queen of Soul’s biggest hits, banding together for “Natural Woman” and singing solo. Aguilera belted “Ain’t No Way,” while McBride took on “Until You Come Back to Me,” and Welch tackled “Think.” Hudson sassed up Staples Center with “Respect,” while Adams nailed “Spirit in the Dark.” The women rounded out the rehearsal with “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves.”

After practicing with her peers, J-Hud shared her excitement over the powerful performance. “Rehearsals are going, and went, very well,” she told MTV News. “It’s a lot of fun, and just being amongst the other ladies and being around some of my favorite artists, and then tributing Aretha Franklin, it’s just like surreal. And it’s a moment you just have to take in and enjoy it, and I’m like on cloud nine just in that moment.”

i love how christina is placed in the middle she is the biggest name out of them all and she is probably the one raking in the audience. christina keep singing your self dont ever listen to the negativity that may come your way.. my heart is with you and you show the world what you can do. it disgusts me how people are making out that you mess up all the time when you have never messed up before.

everyone brought their own mic and stands, florence brough herself a gold mic so what? yolanda brought a skinny stand, martina brough a thicker short one. its your equipment shit better be personalized and your preference. I just noticed Christina is not only in the middle, but she has her own mic stand. Girl is a diva! I’m so glad her and Yolanda are singing less popular songs too. I’m most ecxited about seeing those two.

Xisme, you are such a hipocrit. Saying about not letting haters get xtina down whilst you bring the other artists down by saying she’ll be the one raking the audience in. I’ll be watching for Florence. A true dignified artist doing Britain proud. Unlike what Christina Aguilera did with Rebecca Ferguson on UK’s X Factor.
