Rap-Up.com || Video: Lady Gaga Responds to Madonna Song Comparisons

After her rebirth at Sunday’s Grammys, Lady Gaga sat in the hot seat on Monday’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” The pop superstar, wearing an all-black sheer outfit with mask, spoke about her Grammy performance, getting inspiration from Willow Smith, and responded to the comparisons between “Born This Way” and Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”

On the Madonna controversy: “There is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan, personally and professionally. Well the good news is that I got an email from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single. And if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be.”

On meeting Willow Smith at the Grammys: “I love Willow. I told her that she inspired me to whip my hair back and forth onstage.”

On her new album Born This Way, due May 23: “The rest of the songs on the album are quite different from ‘Born This Way.’” Gaga is shooting an HBO special from “The Monster Ball” and has completed the video for “Born This Way” with director Nick Knight.

I can’t understand why way back when Madonna accused Gwen Stefani – who is NOTHING like Madonna nor has she ever been – of stealing her style/whatever but has not yet done so with L.Gaga. I guess it’s because she likes the latter better. I really don’t care either way, though. Until someone does something truly original, other than acting weird/wearing crazy fashions, then I think it all redundant. Being extra is nothing new and it will continue after these people. There’s a trend for it – always has been. Problem is now everybody has a gimmick, and in many cases it supercedes any talent they might have. Case and point: L.Gaga and now N.Minaj. I like a lot of both of their fashion, but the more buried they become under all the extra-ness, the more they are identified solely FOR that.

@ The person with the weird name – Don’t you mean that Madonna is the mentor? How could L.Gaga be a mentor to Madonna when Madonna is older and came first?

If someone is looking to these pop stars to be their someone to look up to/mentor/idol then they’ve lost before they’ve even begun.
