50 Cent Saved Jeremih From Being Dropped![]() Jeremih was in hot water before 50 Cent came along. The R&B crooner was reportedly in danger of being dropped from Def Jam after his sophomore album All About You failed to make an impact. But after the G-Unit henchman added his verse to “Down on Me” and the video with YouTube sensation Keenan Cahill went viral, he was given another shot.
“They was counting Jeremih out completely. He was already gon’ be dropped from Def Jam before ["Down on Me"],” 50 told Hot 97’s Angie Martinez. “He was definitely gonna be in a position where he was getting dropped because the first week sales was really low on the record.” Finding himself in a financially comfortable position, the hip-hop mogul decided to hop on Jeremih’s second single on the strength of his artistic abilities. “We did the song, I didn’t care. I was just looking at him as an artist and I said he sounds good, and I thought he was a dope artist, so I said I’ma do it,” he explained. “And we did the song, and then it took off. It’s been number one for what, five weeks now?” Since then, the club banger cracked the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even higher on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “It made sense to me from an artist’s perspective,” continued Fif. “What I have now, the luxury of being in a secure space financially, is me having the ability to make decisions based on just the art.” TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 26 CommentsLeave a Reply

I’m sorry, but if this information going to come out then it should have come from Jeremih. 50 just comes across as arrogant.

I don’t think 50 should be putting this out there, I mean 50 verse wasn’t even hot. That video with the little kid that went viral was the main thing that saved the song.
Def Scam is terrible though, they neglect ALL artist who aren’t on top. Jeremih promotion was through the roof for his first album but on the second one they didn’t even push “I Like” which could of been big

50 is such a douche. I mean, why would HE be telling people in interviews that Jeremih was about to be dropped before he came along? And 50 acts like he’s hot. This has been his first real hit in years himself. And if his next album sells as poorly as his last two, he gonna be in danger of being dropped too. I don’t even think the song needed 50 to be a hit.

@meme, i agree, any rapper would have made this song a hit with a good verse.

@erica i’m pretty sure fif has sold nearly 30 million records WW and has 7 top 10 billboard single’s (solo), so i’m pretty sure he’ll never get dropped from a label that he’s brought that much to. Secondly he was on crack a bottle which made number 1 on billboard. And finally he has always been arrogant since he came in with his first album in 2000, that’s who he is and its made him one of the best and richest rappers to date.

50 is good, but that’s personal info. And Jeremih’s part was cold too. His album would have sold a lot more if this was the lead single instead, even without 50. The only reason “I Like” waspicked was because it sounded like Birthday Sex pt 2. Anyway, Jeremih should be the one to say this, he’s probably so embarrassed.

5o cent is worth less than his name implies. That was rude and arrogant of him to tell the world that the young dude was about to get dropped. Once again smh at 2 cents.

the song is good in the first place, it’s actually really BIG right now, really proud of jeremih.
his two albums were good, and both are ENTIRELY produced by the same producer, he’s not hopping in the Timbaland/Darkchild wagon, that’s really impressive.
I don’t want him to be dropped, and “Down on me” should have been the first single, the album would’ve sold more.

what are the actual numbers of all about you? fif might have been too arrogant but he said the truth, the whole world knows that def jam was about to drop him ,because i like the luda featured single failed, secondly his first weeks number were so low, even kat stacks moked him,she said to him,you suck nobody relevant besides her showed up to his album release party.when fif went to keenan cahill’s room the song started to rocketing up the charts,i agree with fif because he went himself to keenan’s room to promote the song,he could’ve promoted bbb,or one of his songs.why didn’t jeremih go to the kid’s room to make things happen for himself? down on me is the only song popping up on his album? and iam sure down on me will the album to hit platinum, with what fif said the single and the album will sell way more this week, watch, they agreed that fif would say this to boost the sales,it’s marketing tricks that dumbs don’t understand.
