Rap-Up.com || Mary J. Blige Readies ‘My Life’ Sequel for September

Mary J. Blige is going back to the beginning with My Life II: The Journey Continues, the sequel to her 1994 sophomore release.

Due September 20, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’s 10th studio album has already produced the Jerry Wonda-helmed “Someone to Love Me (Naked)” featuring Diddy and Lil Wayne, and is set to include production from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Danja, Stargate, and The Underdogs.

The LP, recorded in Los Angeles and New York City, sees MJB looking toward the future while acknowledging the past. “From me to you, My Life II… Our journey together continues in this life,” explained Mary. “It’s a gift to be able to relate and identify with my fans at all times. This album is a reflection of the times and lives of people all around me.”

The Colin Tilley-directed video for “Someone to Love Me (Naked)” premiered on VEVO today, co-starring Diddy and Lil Wayne.

My Life II will serve as the follow-up to its groundbreaking predecessor, which was certified multi-platinum and spawned the singles “I’m Goin’ Down,” “Be Happy,” and “You Bring Me Joy.”

I love My Life but I haven’t been feelingary for awhile. She’s too watered down, over produced, and just hollow. Painakwa good music and without it, she’s a sub par artist.

i love mary. she’s had an interesting career trajectory. she’s definitely capable of delivering, but if she’s choosing that title, the entire album has to be on the same level, or greater, than My Life I (an album that solidified her career). i’m rooting for her!

I’m happy to hear that she’ll be dropping an album this year. “Someone To Love Me” is a good track for her and I know she’ll have some hot joints on this new album. She always delivers IMO.

@pretty latin rock swag- I will give you Mary J. Blige last album as kind of lope warm with some tracks but had some emotional topics, but her Growing Pains was great, and it even won a grammy for the whole album. Listen to Talk to Me, and tell me if that aint real R&B
