Jill Scott keeps it funky on the Eve-assisted “Shame,” the lead single off her fourth album The Light of the Sun. The self-love anthem sees the Philly duo doing their thing over a horn-laced backing track as they sass about their queendom. “What you so scared of me for, I’m just a woman/ Maybe I got it all together like you think maybe I do/ ‘Cause yo, I’m fresh and cool,” sings Scott. I’m not mad at this. It’s not blowing me away, but it’s funky, fun, and a good way for Jill to do something uptempo. Nice to see some positive music out there.

Ok that track is dope with a meaning not like the rest of this music that talks about sex, drugs, and alchol. She’s mixing R&B with Funk and a little Hip Hop. I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it.

I love the old-school style to this. It sounds like something that could’ve been done in the 70′s. And I’m glad Jill teamed up with Eve figuring they’re both from Philly so I think their fans will be pleased.

This is DOPE!!! OKAY JILL AND EVE!! Finally some real music is coming back… now all we need is Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo to come back and music will be back on track again. I must say there are some underground folks out there really trying to force through with some real music artist like, Eric Roberson, Lenny Harold, Chinah Black and etc. The soul movement is coming back YEEESS!!!

Tune, something nice and differentlove Jill she always sticks to what she can do best instead of jumping on what formula is hot mainstream wise. Good you jill i will defo buy the new LP when it hits the stores. And as for EVE i thought that she said that she would be comming out with new material in march. Well it’s april now and the only stuff that i hear is stuff that shes collaborating on.

I appreciate that jill scott came out with a different sound for her first single on light of the sun… it’s a shame that most have pigeonholed jill and think that she should only sing soulful songs…i love her versatility just as much as i love her voice… The song is on point!
