Rap-Up.com || Album Cover: Lady Gaga

Put your wheels up for Lady Gaga. From the Haus of Gaga and photographer Nick Knight comes the black-and-white artwork for the pop provocateur’s third album Born This Way, riding into stores May 23. Gaga conveys the album’s title, morphing into a motorcycle with her arms becoming spokes and blonde head veering out from the front. ‘Cause she was born this way, baby.

This reminds of when kanye west showed his album cover and revealed his album title. I didn’t get, and hated it at first but I stayed with it. Now look what his Album has become. We don’t always understand an artists choices but sometimes thats the way it should be. I don’t know what she was going for with this cover and if it is horrible or not but that won’t matter to me because at the end of the day i enjoy her music and this won’t stop me from buying the album for its content and not its packaging.

I agree it looks tacky and cheap, but I think that might have been what she was going for. The motorcycle probably represents her being wild, free, and untamed (she was born that way….get it?)Although, I probably don’t do enough coke to understand her metaphors.

Lady Gaga has masterfully (her or her record company) “loyalized” her fanbase, by being massively active outside of the musical world (image, statements, buzzes, etc.), and I honestly think that Gaga’s fans are now so loyal and love her so much (I even believe that, unconsciously, most of her fans love her the most for other reasons than her music) that from now on even if she does crappy music or lame artwork (cf. respectively “Born This Way” & this album cover, IN MY OPINION), people will follow the lead and buy the thing. I don’t like Lady Gaga, but I’ll go ahead and I can say that she is the typical 21st Century Superstar. Was it better before ? It depends, make your own opinion.

I don’t believe this is the true cover. She revealed it three times through Twitter. The same number of times Judas betrayed Judas. Also she released the track to iTunes four days early. Judas betrayed Jesus the third time four days before Easter. Just a theme I think she has going.
