Lil Wayne Moves 'Tha Carter IV' Release Date, Preps 'Lollipop' Successor

Lil Wayne fans will have to wait a little longer for Tha Carter IV. The highly-anticipated album, originally intended for release on May 16, has been pushed back to June 21. While listeners have been treated to singles “6 Foot 7 Foot” and the Rick Ross-assisted “John,” Weezy is taking his time finishing his latest opus and is still waiting on a few guest appearances.

“He’s still perfecting a few things, he’s a perfectionist … changing a few lines,” Mack Maine told MTV News. “We also have a huge record that wasn’t done yet. We’re in L.A. right now. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday.”

The Cash Money honcho wouldn’t reveal who would be on the project, but he explained that the album’s next single will be akin to his 2008 smash “Lollipop.” “It’s more along the lines of a ‘Lollipop,'” he shared. “People call [them] crossover records and all of that, but [it will be] just one of those [records] that will be liked by the masses.”

As for the rumored tracklisting floating around the web, Mack denied that it’s final, though he did confirm the recently leaked cover art. “The same day it leaked out, we had just approved the cover that morning. Soon as we approved it, it leaked out within two hours,” he stated.
