Rap-Up.com || Lady Gaga Plans to Ship 2 Million Albums

Lady Gaga is launching a massive rollout for her third album Born This Way, in stores Monday. The pop phenom has lined up a big release week with an expanded presence at retail and high-profile television appearances.

HITS Daily Double reports that Gaga’s label Interscope Records has high expectations for the project and is shipping a whopping 2 million units to a variety of retail outlets.

You will be able to pick up the album at over 21,000 non-traditional retailers including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Costco, Nordstrom, Hot Topic, Radio Shack, Guitar Center, Starbucks, and online at Gilt Groupe.

Her publicity campaign is also about to go into overdrive. After recent appearances on “Oprah” and guesting as a mentor on “American Idol,” Gaga will also perform during the show’s finale on May 26 and be the musical guest on this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” with host Justin Timberlake.

“Hair,” the fourth release from Born This Way, has entered the top 5 on iTunes, while the title track set a record for the fastest-selling single in iTunes history.

@meme, Her music is more real now then it was on the last 2 albums. You can hear it in her voice and without the “overproduction” they are all beautiful songs. I see her selling 1.1 mil, the market is dry right now.

Now that is how you sell records. Make sure your album is at EVERY store possible. LOL! That’s smart as hell. I doubt that she’ll sell 2mill though. Maybe 1mill first week.

@xbeefan, yea but GaGa’s debut has sold more in the US and worldwide than Dangerously in Love sold; and Dangerously in Love came out in 2003 when albums were still selling.

I doubt gaga will do 1 mill in the first week. i think 500k is more likely IMO

I doubt she does that much. Singles aren’t everything. Look at J.Lo, her singles are doing extremely well & she’s on American Idol & her album under-performed. Even though Britney can’t perform (anymore), her album only did like 290k & she has a MASSIVE, loyal fanbase from what I’ve seen. Even at Gaga’s “Prime” or at least biggest period’s, “The Fame Monster” only did 180k 1st week, which is way more than her debut did out of the gates, but still…. & by that time she had already sold like 8-10 million records worldwide. I hope they mean 2 million over the course of 1 – 3 1/2 months

the album has leaked already. and I really think they are very smart joining farmville and all. and of course… if you’re freaking album is EVERYWHERE of course it will sell more… still i’d love to see her sell less that 300k in the 1st week… however the “monsters” won’t let her flop. the tracks that came out all sound the same… she’s absolutely OVERRATED

One thing is: Lady Gaga knows how to demand attention and promote a damn album. She has been everywhere and it’s funny because all the songs from “Born This Way” have been mediocre but she has still been ripping shit apart. People are just generally interested in her regardless if they think she’s a gimmick or not. My predicition on first week sales is maybe 650K-800K.

I’m not hatin’ on GaGa,
but I don’t think I’ll buy that album..

I agree all of the singles sound the same,
and besides that, I miss the old GaGa,
the cute, prety, GaGa,
I miss her ”old” music, talkin’ bout The Fame & The Fame: Monster,
I so love those albums and some unreleased tracks,
I wish she made another album with that stuff on it.

Im confident she’ll sell close to 2millions. her album is catchy yet inspirational, she got many haters, especially the right wing side, but she also got very loyal fans base …..and most of them are gay, and we know that gay people got money to spend
