Rap-Up.com || Frank Ocean’s Debut ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ to Get Commercial Release

Tyler, the Creator gave Odd Future its first big look on the charts with his top 5 solo debut Goblin, and now his fellow member Frank Ocean is following suit with his own commercial release.

After Def Jam held off on releasing his debut Nostalgia, Ultra, OFWGKTA’s resident crooner took matters into his own hands, offering the album as a free download on his website. The online freebie became such a sensation that his label took notice and has decided to release it in stores.

Def Jam has pegged a July 26 release for the project, Rap-Up.com has learned. One of the tracks, the Tricky Stewart-produced “Novacane,” will be released digitally to iTunes ahead of the album on May 31. It is currently unknown which songs will make the commercial release and if there will be new tracks added.

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter, who resides in Los Angeles, has been in the studio with Beyoncé, Nas, and most recently Swizz Beatz, who tweeted, “wow the man has real talent much respect to him 100%.”

Finally, but it’s a little too late now everybody already downloaded the album — for free. I can’t believe talent like this got left on the shelf for so long, it’s about time he gets the recognition he deserves. .

Good luck with that.

To me he is kind of cool but that album would not get my money. Only “Novacane” and “Lovecrimes” were hot. The rest of it was just average so I could understand why they weren’t behind it. But those 2 tracks make me think he could probably make a lot of great songs. Hope he adds some more hot shit

Yes!! I already have the mixtape but I’ll buy the official release too for sure! Novacane is my fav, love Swim Good, Love Grimes, Nature Feels and We All Try. That’s 5 tracks off the album I go hard for… there are some plastic pop artists out there who release an album and only 2 tracks are hot.

This is my mannn. Songs For Women is definitely my favorite of the album, but all of the trackss are dopee. Good luck to him, cause he’s gonna get reall desirable real fast. <3
