Beyoncé professes her unwavering love to her man on “1+1,” the opening track off her fourth album 4 (June 28). The songbird lets her voice soar on the power ballad. “Make love to me when my days look low/ Pull me in close and don’t let me go,” she commands over the guitar-dripped melody. If “Run the World (Girls)” wasn’t your thing, this should do the trick.

@antonio, I totally agree with you because I love all of Beyonce’s album but when it comes down to it Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson are better vocalists (I haven’t heard Christina or Adele or Kelly) see Tasia and JHud have church voices which gives them that Power while having that heavenly tune but the song is good.

I can accept, hear and see that Christina Aguilera has a really bad technique, has a throaty voice and annoying with her over-singing, that Jennifer Hudson has problems with her voice control, problems that Beyoncé hasn’t. Beyoncé has a total control of her voice, she really knows her voice more than these girls, she mastered the vocal technique, it’s another level. That’s what the truth is.

Sorry but I don’t agree. None of these singers have the experience that Beyoncé has. Beyoncé is one of the best vocalists. I mean, her technique is flawless and non of these singers are at the same level. Beyoncé really mastered her vocals skills.
These singers are great yes, they have powerfull voice, but their technique is not as good as Beyoncé’s. It’s good to have power and good pipes but you need to control your voice.
Beyoncé a diva like Mariah or Whitney, it’s another level.

I love Patti, and her voice has waned some, but is still great. Beyonce has been this for what 10 years now, and IF her voice is waning some then so what she still amazing. I think she choose this particular vocal style just for this song, but whatever. I love Whitney also, but if she would have never gotten on crack, her voice would atleast be like it was in 99 in present time. Mariah can still belt out those notes also, a little wear and tear yea, but what do you expect them to sound the same forever..? I love all of these women, and I would support them in any way I can.

This is a nice track. I feel like Beyonce fans are always divided between her up-tempo songs and mid-tempos/ballads like this song. So hopefully this pleases a majority of them. She sounds awesome on it. It makes me wonder what the rest of the songs will sound like. This is the exact opposite of what “Run The World” sounds like, so I’m just hoping the album will be balanced and not all scatter-brained.

I am going to be honest when I. Heard dis I said ok its ight. But whn I kept listening to it I said WOW! I really see what she’s talking about. The way she sings it wit the emotions andthat pure voice makes it sound so inspirational. Ppl think she need to be screaming on a song lik dis whn she dnt. i really dont like what shes doing with this “4″ album /// she said she has a new sound for us she trying new things // the two singles she released there’s nothing new about them .. this project could of been prolonged a little more its not that serious to be in such a rush not to release. like im not impressed at all… and before u b stans start to attack me im not bashing her just dont think shes really giving her all. i give credit when credit is do and this right here sounds like its gonna be a carbon copy of i am Sasha fierce ..#fyi thats my favorite beyonce Album

I like the retro feel. She’s clearly been listening to and inspired by gritty soul from the early 70′s here. Usually her use of too much tremelo irks me but, but she restrained herself pretty well on this track. Now if we could just get rid of that damned yodel at the end of nearly every phrase…it’s overkill and not neccessary. Overall though, it’s a good piece of work and reminds me of the music my childhood. Still won’t be buying the cd, but I doubt she minds.
