Rap-Up.com || New Music: Beyoncé f/ André 3000

Beyoncé kicks it old school with André 3000 on “Party,” their much-anticipated collaboration from her upcoming album 4 (June 28). Kanye West, who produced the feel-good record with Consequence, jumpstarts the celebration, rhyming about “swag sauce” and “swagu,” before passing the torch to B who settles into a ’90s groove.

“‘Cause tonight’s the night that I give you everything/ Music knocking until the morning light/ ‘Cause we like to party,” she harmonizes over a sample of Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh’s 1985 classic “La Di Da Di.”

And we can’t forget about André 3000, who resurfaces with more witty wordplay. “Never thought that we could become someone else’s hero/ Man, we were just in the food court eating our gyros,” reminisces the OutKast MC.

The summer starts now.

THIRD, Stop worrying about numbers, sales, and chart positions. It seems this album Beyonce is just making the music she wants to make and she is not worried about smash hits or number one bangers. She’s just chilling and vibing. This album doesn’t seem to have one sound. It’s just a GUMBO of different styles, genres, and such. And she said from the beginning that it would be. I likey.

She’s been everywhere DJ’n and I heard she gets paid quite nicely for her DJ services. Can’t wait til she puts out another album though. I still play “Hadley Street Dreams” out.

I actually like this and appreciate Beyonce going back to her roots. I just couldn’t stand that I Am… Kelly Clarkson last album of her’s. She went completely pop with that album. This sound fits her the best, that “ready” and “get it” do not sound good, but the mood, production, 3000 and the rest of her vocals are hot.

@Lisa, There were two sides to that album and the “Sasha Fierce” side SURE did not have ANY “Kelly Clarkson” type songs. Come on! “Diva”? “Ego”? “Video Phone”? “Sweet Dreams”? Kelly Clarkson could never. And what’s wrong with pop music? The “I am” side contained some very beautiful, well written songs that B sung very well. She has a mass amount of people in her fanbase. People of different races, statuses, sexes, etc. People from all over the world. There are a lot of people in the world who don’t just listen to one genre. Some of B’s fans like hip hop. Some like R&B. Some like pop. And some like it all. She gave an album full of tracks with both and split it down the middle. You had your pop side and your hard, urban hip hop with sprinkles of R&B side. I saw nothing wrong with it. I was happy it was unexpected & didn’t sound like anything she’d ever done. To appreciate this you really have to be 18 and up… In my opinion. I don’t know how old some of you are, but this song is definitely a banger.
Beyonce will definitely have me buying “4″. I’m loving everything except Run the World which is now growing on me, more lyrically then musically.
“4″ is definitely going to be her most eclectic album and possible the most in-depth one she’s created. I see great things and lots of talent.

To tell the truth 1+1 is my second favorite Beyonce song ever…only after Listen.

People this album will be a flop. It has nothing to do with the songs being bad (even though most aren’t her best work). It has nothing to do with the leaks (Britney Spears nd Lady GaGa had them and they still sold tons). It has more to do with promotion. There was very little hype for the first single. It came out on a wierd day because it was rush released after a leak. It was a deviation from the usual for Beyonce and didn’t go down with some of her more passive fans. She then released 1+1 as a promo single (again on a Wednesday). Most recently she released Best Thing I Never Had (on a Wednesday). Most people don’t even know the song is out. It was never given any sort of billing on the iTunes home page. Normally I’d say it was because it wasn’t on a Tuesday because Tuesday is when new music is supposed to come out, but Coldplay released Every Teardrop is a Waterfall on the same day!!!! It was given proper billing an it is now either 3 or 4 on the iTunes charts, while BTINH barely cracks the Top 100. 1+1 was a promo single and it is doing better than the two actual singles. I think Beyonce would be doing better if she had released a different first single, instead of alienating her fans. She also needs to keep her releases to Tuesday’s. With the leak I think she should give BTINH prime billing right now and rush release 4 next Tuesday. Commercially I think Beyonce would do best if she released all 70 some tracks she recorded and look for the best reaction. She could release a new album each month with about 10 tracks each like Robyn did with Body Talk last year. Truthfully I don’t know if that would help at all, but it would get the music out there. I think she should go back to her father. People say he was just a promoter. That may be true, but really a decent promoter is all 4 needed. Now it will go down as being Beyonce’s Bionic.
