Rap-Up.com || New Music: Drake – ‘Marvin’s Room’

Drake returns to R&B with the mellow jam “Marvin’s Room” released via his website. The Canadian heartthrob drunk dials an ex-girlfriend and says, “F**k that ni**a that you love so bad/ I know you still think about the times we had.” He tells her that she can do better and admits his shortcomings on the understated song produced by Noah “40” Shebib.

Drizzy also announced that a single from his sophomore set Take Care will come in July followed by the album on October 24.

I love Drake and his music but i honestly hope that ‘Take Care’ isn’t all about his emotions and what not, because even critics said he was complaining alot about his emotions on Thank Me Later. When I said Drake is not Michael Jackson I didn’t mean it as if people are comparing him to Mike, but in the sense that people are acting as if he is this musical genius when he just popped up not too long ago and is repeating himself. I am not trying to diss Drake, but I’m giving my honest opinion and when some emotional fan gets all mad and wants to act as if I don’t know music it only shows how narrow-minded you are. I think it is nothing new, like I posted in my previous comment. And, frankly, I don’t give a fuck about the fact that he’s making millions and I’m not. Those millions are not going to make me poor… It’s funny how we’ve come to the point where we, as music lovers, don’t even respect an opinion. I am not saying he is a bad artist, I am saying that this song is not cutting it FOR ME. Luckily for Drake, it did for you and others. Just too bad that you and others disrespect people like me, who just come on here and give our opinion without hating on the artist.
So don’t hit me with that “Oh, he’s making millions and you’re not.”-line, ’cause that’s NOT what it’s about in the end. Now if you say you don’t like it than that’s you opinion and of course no one has the right to argue with you about it, but calling it wack makes it up for debate because that’s more of you stating what you think is fact rather than stating an opinion. Like Will said this song speaks volumes. Drake has been said he is trying to tell a story about a young man in the pursuit of money and love. Yes most of this songs in the past 2 years have generally been some of his usual “topics” but you think it is the same stories that you either definitely don’t know music or you aren’t really listening.

Sooner than Later, Fall for Your Type, Houstatlantavegas, all sound similar to this. The storyline is a whole ‘nother story. But Drake is making music with poetry in it, not just poetry.
