Chris Brown and Frank Ocean Trade Jabs on Twitter
Just when you thought the dust had settled, Chris Brown finds himself in another Twitter beef. After feuding with Odd Future frontman Tyler, the Creator, a new dispute erupted between Breezy and Tyler’s OFWGKTA affiliate Frank Ocean on Friday (June 17).
Chris sent out a tweet that sparked the fight, comparing Ocean to songwriters James Fauntleroy and Kevin Cossom. “I fuck wit Frank Ocean! Reminds me of a young James Fauntleroy or Kevin Cossum,” he wrote.
The “Novacane” singer, who’s written for Beyoncé and Brandy, responded, “i fucks wit chris brown, reminds me of a young sisqo or ike turner,” adding, “i just dont like underhanded comments. thats all im saying.”
That’s when things took a turn for the worse. “@frank_ocean it was a compliment you bitch ass ni**a. Everybody claim to be the devil till they meet him,” Chris fired back. “I was tryna help yo sales nigga. You fuckin clown! You and @fucktyler would be casted great for planet of the apes!”
Tyler, the Creator jumped in with his two cents. “What’s Wrong Christopher? Amber Rose Stole Your Style Bro Bro?” he tweeted. “Why Are You Mad Tho? Like Really, You’re Bigger Than Us Christopher. You Act Like You Like To Eat Soup, Aren’t You A Role Model?”
Game, no stranger to beef himself, offered his advice to all parties. “@fucktyler the homie & @frankocean just starting what can be a long successful career.. Don’t fuck it up by beefin’. FOCUS ni**as, FOCUS !!!” he said, telling Chris, “focus on ‘YOU’ blood. BEEF aint gettin n!ggas nowhere these days. All you do is LOSE, endorsements, appearances & oppurtunities.”

The fact is, things would settle down much quicker if everybody didn’t always feel the need to put their 2 cents in and trash talk. There was no need for this small exchange to be exacerbated.
I think Frank took what Chris said the wrong way. If he was unsure, then he should have asked for clarity instead of taking a cheap shot.

It seems all this group does is beef with people to get attention… like in this instance with Chris Brown. It’s exactly what 50 Cent did several years back towards Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and basically every other artist that was relevant at the time.
Instead of putting out creative music and making a name for themselves, they try to draw attention and energy from artists doing the aforementioned in the hopes of gaining some of their spotlight.
It by no means contributes any creativity to hip-hop, and ultimately it divides people.

Maybe Frank was wrong, but at the same time, Chris had problems with O.F. and O.F. is tight knit. Sort of the “You talk shit about one of us, you basically fuck with all of us.” Frank probably percieved Chris’ compliment as underhanded because… lets be realistic… Did YOU know who both of those dudes he mentioned were? I sure as fuck didn’t… When I DID find out about them, I basically found that they were ghostwriters. Frank writes his own shit as well as music for others and PERFORMS it. These dudes probably sit in a studio all day cranking out music for other people and those other people get to make fuckloads of cash on music/lyrics they didn’t even write.
At the same time, do you REALLY think anybody should be concerned with a compliment from Chris Brown? As a person he seems like a shoddy motherfucking crybaby. “YOU MADE ME MAD, I’MMA TAKE MY SHIRT OFF AND BREAK SOME WINDOWS. I think Frank is attractive, and this feisty moment aside, seems to have a real chill personality which makes him even more attractive. I think it’s possible he already didn’t think much of Chris prior to CB’s “complimentary” tweet. Not only did CB make a lackluster comparison, but intentional or not, he “sonned” Frank by saying he reminded him of a YOUNGER version of what’s-his-face and that-other-one. Frank is 23 (could be 24 by now)- I dunno how old those other dudes are, but Frank is a grown man. I doubt he appreciated being called a younger version of other 20-somethings…by someone even younger than he is. And as long as we’re comparing: Frank reminds me of Static Major (R.I.P) who was an artist with a real extensive body of work to be admired and a love for REAL music.

I love Chris Brown and all, but his maturity just isn’t there, and that’s something he truly needs to work on. Yeah, Frank Ocean (who ever the fuck he is) may have said some foul shit, but that doesn’t mean you have to go down to his level. It’s one thing for him to defend himself, but he also needs to know when to just stay quiet. And it would have been in his best interest to stay quiet. I didn’t read all the comments, but I didn’t see anyone point out that both guys, James Fauntleroy & Kevin Cossom, that Chris Brown compared Frank Ocean to have written songs for him. All the songs written were hits on his albums but no one have truly heard of these guys. i.e., James Fauntleroy wrote CB – Take You Down. To me that was an ego and career shot b/c to most ppl these writers will ALWAYS be beneath Chris Brown and will never have a career comparable to his due to the fact that they weren’t the ones singing and performing those songs. That’s why Frank Ocean snapped. I’m a fan of both but CB walked into that Twitter Beef Show.
