Frank Ocean Preps ‘LITE’ Version of ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’

Frank Ocean

An abridged version of Frank Ocean’s much-buzzed-about mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra is set to hit stores next month. Rap-Up.com has a few more details on what you can expect from the commercial release.

The repackaged EP, which arrives on July 26 via Def Jam, will be called Nostalgia, LITE. and feature around seven songs. Tracks expected to make the cut are “Swim Good,” “Songs for Women,” “We All Try,” as well as the first single “Novacane.” At least two new songs, “Acura Integrul” and “Whip Appeal,” will be included. Some of the mixtape material contained samples that could not be cleared.

“The Eagles sample ['American Wedding'] has no chance in hell of being cleared,” the Odd Future member previously told MTV News. “Coldplay sample ['Strawberry Swing'], possibly. I hear ‘possibly’ from people who say they know. MGMT, those guys seem chill. I heard they heard the record ['Nature Feels'] and they liked it a lot, so hopefully that can go some way.”

Ocean debuted a video for “Novacane” earlier this week. He scored writing credits on Beyoncé’s “I Miss You” off her upcoming album 4, and has been in the studio with Nas, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.

@meme, I totally I agree with you. I was going to buy Frank’s new material but the way he acted put me right off. I lost respect for him cos he did it for the attention. Although Chris Brown can be childish this time he was actually genuine. There was no need for the Ike Turner comment.

@Mark London, why, because how good a person’s music is depends on how good of a person they are?
this is the problem with the music industry. someone donates to charity and they get more sales no matter how shitty their music is.
somebody does something controversial and loses sales even though it has nothing to do with their music.

@Chris brown the bright cute dandelion, “some old niggas who never made it” Who is the dumb one? Those guys are great songwriters and singers. Just like Frank is. It was a damn compliment. The only reason he said fuck Odd Future was because Tyler started some shit. DOn’t call other people dumb when your the dumb one

@meme, And you sadly are a genuine idiot. Both those people were respected but were chris’s employee’s. I understand and respect frank more standing up for himself.

@meme, but Chris started it. I don’t like any of OF’s music, I only like Frank Ocean. But how ass backwards would it be for Frank to accept Chris’ compliment after he bashed Tyler?

@JAYE, um Tyler bashed CB first, do research, thank you!

i liked frank ocean until he started coming at chris hella sideways. makes me wonder what will happen if his star power gets bigger. that whole odd future crew seems like such a bad influence & negative energy. no doubt frank can write, but he needs to be done with all that odd future bullshit if he’s gonna pursue music in the mainstream.

Nobody understands that chris basicly said FU to his crew ODD FUTURE last time and then is gonna compare him to some generic old niggas who never made it? Naaa frank knew better, stop being so sensitive and just enjoy the music.

It’s an insult. He’s saying that FO will only be known for writing and nothing else. Both of them have also worked for Chris Brown so he could also be saying that he’ll be working for him in the future.

@Frank Ocean, I never thought of it that way hmmmmmm it all could be a simple misunderstanding but w.e

    Bob Reply:

@Frank Ocean, I also think it was an insult because it’s obvious that FO wants to make it as a SINGER and no longer wants to only be a writer.

    nicole Reply:

@Frank Ocean, stop assuming. If FO worked for CB then obviously CB likes FO’s writting skills…

To all the half ass fans, f*ck y’all cuz y’all were frank ocean fans. Fist Browm started and Frank Ocean put him in his place with just 1 tweet. Piss Brown was being a shady queen and he got read down! Frank is much more talented and make better music. Look who’s he’s worked with already and he don’t even have an album out. His mixtape is better than most R&B albums that released so far. So to the Frank Ocean haters, f*ck off!

I love the mixtape and his style is fresh and creative. I want to buy the EP, which will probably be cheap, but after seeing his disrespectful tweets it makes him no greater than Tyler the Creator, who I despise. I will probably end up buying the EP for the music, but their attitude won’t get them far in the industry.

If Franks music is good I’ll listen however I don’t like his rudeness to Chris. It was unnecessary and lame as hell in my opinion. I AM a Chris fan but still willing to hear what Frank has to offer musically. That shyt better be hot Frank..better be HOT!

Okay really? FUCK Chris Brown right now. The spotlight is on Frank Ocean. I’m really proud of him and I’ve been a fan of him since his mixtape was released in February. And, I will be buying his re-release of “Nostalgia, ULTRA” in July!! I can’t wait to ACTUALLY have it in my hand, I prefer cds or Vinyl. Anyway, I was right! I was like, “hmm, I wanna know what song he helped Bey on on her album ’4′ ” and when I heard “I Miss You” I was like, “He helped her on this track, I know it! It sounds like his mellow-type of beat and vocals (w/ a smile on my face” “I Miss You” is my fave song on the album too. <3 you Frank :'D
