« New Music: Lloyd f/ R. Kelly, Keri Hilson, & K’naan – ‘World Cry’Video: Teyana Taylor – ‘Her Room (Marvin’s Room Remix)’ »Rap-Up TV: On Set of Diggy Simmons’ ‘Copy, Paste’ VideoRap-Up TV witnessed the birth of a star on set of Diggy Simmons’ video for his debut single “Copy, Paste.” The 16-year-old rap phenom gets hooked up to wires in a laboratory as female technicians try to clone his one-of-a-kind DNA. Directed by Phil the God and shot in Los Angeles, Diggy is covered in a bandage as he is examined, later sharing the concept behind the visuals. “‘Copy, Paste’ is about just giving an anthem to original people, innovators, people that feel like their style’s been copy, pasted,” explained Diggy. “I’m in a laboratory and I’m hooked up to wires and different stuff. I have like a bandage over my stomach. There’s laboratory girls in the scene, but it’s just about them trying to copy and paste me.” Despite being the son of hip-hop icon Rev Run, the hard-working MC doesn’t feel pressure. “When you love it, it’s just real relaxed and you just do what you do,” added the star of “Run’s House,” whose album is due later this year on Atlantic Records. I love how he’s trying to intellectualize a song with such a simple concept. lol. This song is flopping so hard and I don’t see it bouncing back. I just think we’re past the days where new rappers make a splash into mainstream.
