Michelle takes a more serious approach with her cover of Beyoncé’s “Best Thing I Never Had,” singing about a former lover who physically abused her. “I thank God I didn’t die/ … I’m so glad I’m over you/ I’ma pray my way out,” sings R. Kelly’s protégé, who’s expressed her unhappiness with her label Jive Records in recent weeks. “You turned out to be, the worst man I ever had.”

@2101, You have a beautiful voice; but we all know who/where the focus will be with that label. Let’s be honest. The labels promote and invest into the more popular singers. The song wasn’t all that bad to me. I’ve never been one to ‘instantly’ love a song as soon as I’ve heard it.

I feel that it’s a cool song. She sings with so much emotions and has a nice range. Don’t know what is Jive Records is waiting for but she has talent and a voice.

She’s a good singer, but the lyrics and melody just didn’t mix with the instrumental. And I also think that this was a raw version… So I can’t judge on a song that’s not finished.

I’ll leave it at that it’s not a good look. She should’ve stuck to the original melody Beyoncé sang.
