Beyoncé hit up 30 Rock for her first appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday night. Backed by the world famous Roots crew, the white-hot singer performed a reworked version of her single “Best Thing I Never Had,” boasting a new arrangement. A “Late Night” staffer overheard B asking ?uestlove and the band if she could bring them on tour with her.

She later sat down to talk about Jay-Z, reuniting with her fellow Destiny’s Child members at Kelly Rowland’s album release party, her inspirations on 4, running on the Great Wall of China, and her new perfume Pulse.

You can’t compare them, Beyonce is over Rihanna so far. I love Rihanna, but she’s unable to perform like this, and her songs are far to be as powerful as B’s songs.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounds like she’s a little hoarse, which makes me appreciate this performance that much more. I know how hard it can be to control your voice when having a cold, and she did the damn thing.
It gave her an egde, but I could see the relief in her eyes when she finished the performance.

I love the new arrangement, wish it would’ve been on the album. Although I’d love for her to bring The Roots with her on tour, I love her all-female band too much to let the men barge into it, haha.

I for one loved the ideas , the arrangement , that song is so boring and generic , it was nice to bring some fun and changes into it !

Beyonce looked GORGEOUS as usual , white is her color ( all colors are her color though )She might’ve sounded husky/hoarse here and there in the past but it always sounded sexy ( las vegas intimate concert ) but here her voice sounds really hoarse , almost like she’s hurting , she should take a week or two off and seek help with a specialist or a vocal coach cause it might affect her vocal abilities in the long run .

@mike, anyone who loves Beyoncé could hear that she was vocally struggling during both this performance and her performance for The View.

On her album she’s not hoarse. She creates an edgier sound on purpose with the goal of making it more intense and emotional to listen to. There’s a difference between actually being hoarse and using techniques to make your voice sound a specific way in certain parts of the song. That’s where her artistry and vision are to ‘blame’.

What a great performance, and she was even sick but still managed to deliver above & beyond. That would be cool to see the Roots go on tour with Beyonce. I know she has her all female band, but when they decide to take a break is when the Roots should step in. They’d come up with some cool arrangements.

@Kyle, I like this arrangement better than the original one, but I think her all-female band is almost like an extension of Beyoncé’s artistry. It just wouldn’t feel the same if she went on tour without them, or added male musicians.

Maybe ?uestlove can pitch her some ideas and then she mixes it with what her female musicians have in mind and create a fresh new sound, that’s still familiar for the fans.

But if she chooses to eventually add The Roots to her crew, more power to her. She’s a professional and I have faith in whatever decision she makes, regarding her music and performances. :-)
