New Music: Drake – ‘Headlines’![]() Drake makes “Headlines” with the first single from his sophomore album Take Care, due October 24. The Young Money superstar, who had one of the biggest breakthroughs of 2010 with Thank Me Later, silences his critics on the bouncy Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib production. “I had someone tell me I fell off, ooh I needed that/ And they want to see me pick back up, well where’d I leave it at?” raps Drizzy, who will headline the second annual OVO Fest in Toronto tomorrow. “The whole process has been about slowing life down and really pinpointing emotions,” the Canadian rapper told Rolling Stone of his latest project, which will feature collaborations with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and The Weeknd. What do you think of Drake’s new single? Listen below.

*suddenly has urge to take up ballet* lol
It’s a catchy song, pretty good. I like Dreams Money Can Buy and Marvin’s Room more than this.
Drake’s a lot better off with 40 or someone else doing his singles than Boi-1da IMO. Boi-1da’s not bad, but his beats aren’t that great either. Best I Ever Had, Forever, Up All Night, Drake’s hooks carry those songs more than the production. That’s the case here, too.
Take Care sounds like it’s going to be dope still, as good or better than Thank Me Later.

Takes a few times for me to know if I really feel song.
But I think this’ll be a hit. Sounds better than “Thank Me Later”…don’t really like the hook, but the rest is good.
AND Drake, you better get a verse from Nicki on the album b/c “Up All Night” was the Best (and most wasted) single on TML.

man i listened really really wantin to like this but it jus didnt do it for me. it wasnt catchy neither is it groundbreakin. For me to go out and spend my money a song gatta have a cathcy hook, a cracy beat or something with strong lyrical content. this song was neither.

@meme, “It’s not about lyrics anymore, it’s about a hot beat and catchy hook” Eminem….come on if you have to be entertained by something catchy to like music then grow up

@Shade, when it comes to music in general the hook, and the beat make up the bones of the song, the verses are the other half, if you have strong lyrics but a crappy beat and hook then the song will be over looked.

Moe Reply:
July 31st, 2011 at 7:32 pm
@isabella!,
I understand what your saying but hip hop is a completely different topic. The lyrical content is what defines the artist as a “rapper”. @Shade, It was actually LL Cool J who said that not Eminem.

Shade Reply:

@isabella!, I didn’t say they weren’t important now did I? I just said if you need them to be mainly entertained by the song then you need to grow up.
@Moe: Eminem said that in a song.
