Tyler, the Creator Makes Mischief in New Photo Shoot

Tyler, the Creator

Tyler, the Creator is up to no good once again in his photo shoot for Interview magazine. The 20-year-old Odd Future ringleader breaks car windshields with a bat, kicks over shopping carts, and sticks his tongue out in the black-and-white images shot by photographer Gregory Harris. Waka Flocka Flame interviewed him for the story. Check out some highlights from their candid conversation.

On his on-stage persona: “When I’m on stage, it’s, like, Ian Curtis and Sid Vicious—like, real punk rock and shit. I’m like a big 10-year-old when I’m on stage. I just go up there and do whatever I think is cool at the moment. And then, when it comes to rappin’, I like watchin’ a lot of cartoons and movies and shit. Usually, when I’m rappin’, I’m creating a big story or a concept song that sounds like a movie to me.”
On what his mom thinks of his career: “I think she sees her son just doing something. She doesn’t even listen to whatever any critic says or anything. She just sees her son out there having the time of his life, so she supports it.”
On where the name Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All came from: “Well, we were at a skate park on just a regular skate day, and this dragon just came out of nowhere and tried to attack me, so we killed the dragon. That’s how we got the name.”

@uhuh, if history has taught us anything, it’s that lyrical content does not equal reality.

Tyler is okay, but he needs to mature a bit, so that he can last with real hip-hop.

@QUEEN BEYONCE STANN, aside from Kanye (and Kreayshawn to an extent) nobody you named produces their own music, directs their own videos, is signed to THEMSELVES, etc. Tyler knows he’s not lyrically the best, but creatively as a whole, he’s an incredible artist.

@QUEEN BEYONCE STANN, did you just say Kreayshawn is better than Tyler? lol, can we not compare artists and just enjoy each different artists’ music separately? It’s not a competition.

Tyler is so f’n theatrical. I was on the bus one day listening to Goblin and the shit had me like, is this a movie? He starts off having trouble with therapist. Dude ends up killing everyone by window. No talking down on Ty man, he’s hurting the industry. Literally.
