Rap-Up.com || Missy Elliott Parties with Katy Perry on ‘Last Friday Night’ Remix

Missy Elliott has been in the lab working on her much-anticipated album Block Party, but she’s about to make a brief return to the spotlight. The trailblazing femcee is set to appear on the official remix to “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” the fifth single from Katy Perry’s chart-topping album Teenage Dream.

According to Billboard, the remix will hit radio, the Internet, and digital retailers on Monday, August 8.

The pop starlet is hoping the Missy version will propel “Friday” to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying Michael Jackson’s record for most Hot 100 No. 1s from a single album. Her previous records “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.,” and “Firework” all went to No. 1.

Whatever it turns out like, it will always be a cheap gimmick to get the song to #1 to equal Michael Jackson’s record.

Katy is desperate. She’s trying to get that 5th consecutive #1, so she can be on MJ status. Missy is a HUGE name, EVERYBODY has been waiting for her comeback. Nicki is a big name now, but everything she touches is not GOLD. Remember her song w/ Keyshia Cole flopped, & so did her 1st single. To me Missy has a bigger buzz because she hasn’t put out anything in years & people have been waiting for material, including an album from her. I dislike that Missy is on this mix w/ Katy Perry. It’s almost like she’s bandwagoning. Then, I dislike Katy because she’s just another poptart gimmick w/ little talent. i just heard the song… first and foremost im a missy fan…. not kate perry… i like it its hot.. just wished missy couldve had more bars in it… what these artist are forgetting while they are trying to BREAK MJ record is that MJ didnt have to do colabs to make his shit Number 1. …. alot of artist these days are to desparate and thristy that they dont let things come naturally and everybody just hops on bandwagons… and i must say.. missy has never been bandwagon.. but it was good for her to do this track just to reintroduce herself to a audience that might not be to familar with her.
