Game

Game made an appearance on CNN today, but it wasn’t to promote The R.E.D. Album. Instead, the rapper was apologizing after flooding the Los Angeles sheriff’s phone lines with calls from his Twitter followers. The tweet was supposed to contain the phone number for an internship, but instead it directed callers to the Compton station.

“It was a simple mishap,” explained Game, who said his friend “hacked” his account. “I was doing a photo shoot, and it was downtown Los Angeles, and one of my boys picked up my phone and started tweeting random numbers.”

Extra deputies were brought in to handle the high volume of calls. The sheriff has been considering charging Game with at least three misdemeanors, but he maintains that he didn’t have bad intentions. “I never want to be the source of anything happening wrong to anybody or anybody not being able to get through to the help lines at the police station,” he said. “I don’t ever want to see anyone hurt. I’ve got kids at home. I’m not that guy.”

He offered one more apology during the live broadcast. “My sincerest apologies to the sheriff’s department. It was just a joke gone wrong.”

UPDATE: The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has decided not to pursue criminal charges against Game. “His willingness to help share with the media and the community that the safety of the public is what is most important, is a great message,” the department said. “Based upon our investigation, as well as consultation with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the LASD considers the criminal investigation into this matter closed. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will not be seeking criminal charges.”
