Rap-Up.com || Brandy Signs with RCA/Chameleon Records

Brandy is embarking on a new chapter in her career. The R&B singer has officially inked a new record deal with RCA/Chameleon Records, it was announced today.

The Grammy winner is currently in the studio working on her sixth album, which is scheduled for release in early 2012.

“Throughout her career Brandy has consistently won the vote as everyone’s favorite female vocalist,” stated Peter Edge, Chief Executive Office, RCA Music Group. “I am sure that in her next chapter at RCA and in partnership with Breyon Prescott, we will record her most exciting music to date.”

Tom Corson, President and COO, RCA Music Group, added, “Brandy is a worldwide superstar, an award winning performer and a critically acclaimed talent. We are excited to welcome her to RCA Records and look forward to working with her on her new musical endeavors.”

Breyon Prescott, CEO of Chameleon Records said, “Brandy is an icon who changed the sound of R&B music, I’m proud to say she has signed with RCA/Chameleon Records to take her to the next phase of her career. She’s a blessing and music needs her again.”

Brandy was ecstatic with the news. “This is truly a blessing,” she said. “Breyon Prescott, Peter Edge, and Tom Corson believe in me and have introduced me to a home that also believes and knows exactly what to do with the type of music I’m doing. Breyon and the team at RCA/Chameleon are creative and forward-thinking and I am thrilled to be working with them.”

The 32-year-old singer was previously signed to Epic Records where she released Human in 2008.

Cool! God Bless Brandy. She doesn’t need to ‘name’ of some record label out now to sell and make great music. She just needs a team that believes in her, and this team is singing her praises. I think people forget how soulful and moving her voice is, they forget the records she set in music and television. Her 2nd album alone sold over 10 million, that’s a great feat. I can’t wait to buy a new album from her. “Human” was cool, but “Afrodisiac” for one was very underappreciated.

@ughreally, AFRODISIAC was THE most underappericiated album of a decade. Same happened to Amerie’s BECAUSE I LOVE IT!

what brandy needs to do is find who she is as an artist at this moment n do her. she needs to make rnb music with soul, but still fun pop appeal as wella ship hop influences. no wayne or nicki feats or other overrated artist. she should had something come out right after dancing wit the stars to ride off the success and sudden burst back to fame she got from the show. but the best of luck n maybe she can strike gold like she did with never say never.

Brandy has by far one of the most unique and most distinctive voices in R&B music…actually in music PERIOD. I enjoy all her albums and I hope this will be a good move for her because she deserves all the success in the world. I’ll be anxious to hear what the new music is going to sound like.

@EyFresh, Ive said the same thing about brandy and Frank Ocean., when I first heard frank ocean, I thought hes defo influenced by brandy, but frank holds his own though. The thing they share in common is that they are great storytellers..Brandy would murder a female version of ‘Swim Good’ Cant Wait for her album though!!!
