New Music: Lil Wayne f/ Bruno Mars – ‘Mirror’![]() Lil Wayne takes a look in the “Mirror” on his self-reflective collaboration with Bruno Mars, one of three tracks off the deluxe edition of Tha Carter IV, available Monday. The fedora-clad singer sticks to the formula that proved successful on Eminem and Royce Da 5’9’s top 5 hit “Lighters,” providing a soulful hook over a somber beat produced by REO of The Soundkillers. Weezy gets personal with his bars, rapping about his father (“Lookin’ at me now I can see my past/ Damn, I look just like my fu**in’ dad”), while taking inspiration from the King of Pop. “And no message could have been any clearer, so I’m starting with the man in the mirror,” he says. “MJ taught me that.”

@The Truth, He made it a bonus song so more people would buy the Deluxe Edition. The song was also made with the intent of being a mainstream pop hit. All of it was done with money in mind. He’s using Eminem’s technique with “Lighters”, making a song guaranteed to be a hit and make more money.

@ye + hov, I really disagre a I don’t care if you don’t care. Because why would you wright some thing like that if you woudn’t care.Whach the Throwne is S*** just 2 old guy making money. The best album of 2011 is definetly going to be “Silent Films for the Bling”. If you don’t know it you don’t know hip hop.

@Jerome, “blind” and i disagree as well. Cole World will feed all those hungry for HIP HOP.
Not World, Dub step, rock-rap.
not snap, sizzurp, bounce-rap.
Not R&B, Auto-tune, POP-rap.
HIP HOP.
Head nodding, trunk thumping, face scrunching HIP HOP

Carter IV is good. Carter III was amazing tho – almost a 5 Star album according to Rolling Stone magazine.
The difference between these albums seemed to be the absence of an in-house producer working on Carter IV. Last go around Wayne had producer Deezle working on a lot of the music. Deezle helped produce a well-rounded album that flowed – like Quincy Jones to Michael Jackson on Thriller. Carter III was musically cohesive… epic.
Even in a studio video Wayne says, “You this my big bro Deezle.” You could see Deezle there sitting behind the controls.
Carter IV has a lot of great songs, but not all of them flow well together. I think Carter IV lacks the chemistry present on Carter III.
Don’t get me wrong, Wayne is unbelievable. Carter IV has a lot of high points. However, next album I would like to see Wayne working with a producer like Deezle once again… because in the end the result is Grammy award music.

too bad deezle only added drum programming to songs that were already hits by REAL producers…
