Don’t mess with Rihanna. The fearless pop star kicks some serious ass in Battleship, her first dramatic big screen role. “Entertainment Tonight” joined the singer-actress on board the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor last year, where she was shooting the $200 million live-action movie.
“She’s a fighter, she’s a killer,” explains RiRi of her tough character, Navy weapons officer Raikes. “I’m one of the boys. We do everything together. We go on all our missions together.”
As part of her physically-demanding role, she hunts aliens at sea. “These aliens are thugs,” says the 23-year-old, who suffered bruises, scrapes, and sore muscles while being trained by real military officers.
But she was most proud to pay tribute to the brave men and women of the armed forces. “They’re real men and women—everyday heroes, fighting everyday. It’s really good to represent that.”
The Peter Berg-directed film co-starring Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, and Taylor Kitsch sails into theaters May 18, 2012.
