Amy Winehouse Speaks on Dream Duet with Tony Bennett [Video]

  /  09.09.2011

Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse

Before her untimely death, Amy Winehouse lived out a dream of working with the legendary Tony Bennett on a remake of his record “Body and Soul.” The jazz standard, her last completed song, was recorded in March at London’s Abbey Road Studios and will appear on Bennett’s 85th birthday album Duets II, due September 20.

The late singer shows a funnier side in the preview clip, asking the interviewer if she can call Bennett “Ton” and imitating her father Mitch.

She recalls when her dad asked her if she knew “Body and Soul,” his favorite Bennett song. “He was like, ‘Do you even know it?’ And I’m like, ‘Of course I know it, Mitchell.’ I’m your daughter. Of course I know it.”

The full video and song will premiere September 14. Proceeds will benefit The Amy Winehouse Foundation, providing support for young people suffering from substance and alcohol abuse.
