« Chris Brown’s Never-Before-Seen Rap-Up Photo Shoot50 Cent Celebrates Boxing Victory with Floyd Mayweather »Demi Lovato Covers Lil Wayne’s ‘How to Love’ [Video]![]() Demi Lovato taught her NYC fans “How to Love” by covering Lil Wayne’s Carter IV smash during her show at Hammerstein Ballroom last night. The 19-year-old pop star performed the acoustic rap ballad in first person, forgetting some of the lyrics but persevering on. “I am going to cover a song right now. It is by a rap artist, not a rap song, and it’s on the radio right now. Do you guys know what it is?” she asked the crowd of screaming fans. Demi’s new album Unbroken, in stores Tuesday, features some hip-hop flavor courtesy of Missy Elliott and Timbaland, who appear on the flirty party cut “All Night Long.”

I’m not hating but she needs to stop trying to be an R&B singer. I just don’t fit her.

1) if you are gonna cover a song, make sure you know the words
2) didn’t sound too amazing to me
3) leave the “cool urban shit” to JoJo. She know how to do it organically. stick to Disney girl
4) the urban tracks on her album sounds like JoJo circa 2004 (like I said…leave the cool shit to JoJo.

This chick got some serious vocal chops. In my opinion, the only girl in her age bracket that has a stronger voice is Jo Jo. Jo Jo is #1 vocally & Demi #2.
Good job on this cover!

I really like this cover actually, excluding the lyric mishaps. And get over yourselves, it’s a damn cover, there’s nothing wrong with slipping up on a line. She’s not the first nor last artist to mess up a line while covering someone else’s song. And tbh you’re either and idiot or deaf if you say her voice doesn’t suit urban pop/R&B. I believe it’s what she grew up singing. Listen to her live performance of My Love is Like a Star or Lightweight or her mercy on me cover before you speak. It fits her more than any other genre. And she’s not trying to, she’s doing it. Talk all the shit you want but I heard her album and it’s flawless. No matter what genre she sings, she still slays about 90% of today’s mainstream artists vocally. She has a larger range and lung capacity than most singers her age, and she keeps growing as a vocalist. Anyway, I love this cover.

Some of yall is trippin’. She slayed this, mess ups or not, her voice is incredible. R&B or urban pop I should say is what she should have been doing all along. And if you disagree, you probably have shitty taste in music and/or vocalists. I might just cop her album. She’s sexy af too. That’s besides the point tho.

I’d take her over JoJo any day to be honest. JoJo is overrated to me. And I find it funny how someone says she shouldn’t make R&B because it doesn’t fit her voice. People said the same thing to Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, etc. when they switched there style to a more R&B type vibe. But that shit worked out real well for them didn’t it? Do ya thing Demi, it’s working. She’s snatching wigs and I love it. btw I loved her How to Love cover.

Seriously?!?! So she messed up, it’s not her song, and at least shes singing live. And beautifully at that. I’d like to see you get up from behind your computer screen, off your fat lazy ass, and go sing that song half a well as she did. Even in the studio people can’t sound half as good as she does live. So shut the hell up, I think I heard your microwave beeping, it’s your leftover Mcdonalds with a side of douche bag. In fact you have a lot in common with that, your fattening, you leave behind sweat marks, and the only person that will touch you is some old sweaty guy with chest hair that has last nights popcorn left in it. Dont go hating on my girl, you have no right. Love you <3

All of sudden when I hear a woman sing this song (a woman that has dealt with self-esteem issues /cutting herself) this song seems SOOOO DEEEPPPP.
A lot of women don’t know how to love themselves or wait for TRUE love, b|c we’ve had a lot of crooks deceive us. BUT THERE IS RESTORATION IN JESUS, HE CAN TEACH YOU HOW TO LOVE/ACCEPT LOVE. HE IS LOVE.

Oh please, you’re insane if you think she doesn’t have a voice for R&B. She killed that song My Love is Like a Star which is definitely R&B. Not to mention this cover is not meant to be R&B, it’s simply acoustic. And JoJo doesn’t have shit to do with this. As an artists JoJo is underrated but as a vocalist she’s overrated in my opinion. Not only is Demi an amazing singer, but her voice is also very versatile & unique. That’s one of the reasons she’s constantly praised for her vocals. That’s why JoJo herself went on a whole rant on twitter about how amazing Demi’s vocal ability is. And how huge of a fan she is. And how she’s got so much soul and power in her voice. She’s the only Disney star who can actually sing. She’s been underrated for years, it’s about time she gets the spotlight. Since she covers a song by a rap artist that means she’s trying to be like JoJo LOLOL that makes no sense at all. If that’s the case JoJo is trying to be like Timberlake or Bieber because they’ve also covered songs by rappers. Anyway, can’t wait for her album to come out, everything I’ve heard so far sounds amazing. And I love the way she changed the lyrics to a first person scenario, made it even better.

I don’t think this album is going to be the “death” of Beyoncé’s career. Do you realize just how solid her fanbase is? She has accomplished so many great things. At this point, the only one who can impair her name, is Beyoncé herself. People (myself included) respect her too much. We know what she’s been through in order to get where she is.
Same goes for Rihanna. 4 wasn’t the “death” of her career, right? I think it’s safe to say that Beyoncé is a much more powerful artist than Rihanna, so there’s absolutely no logic in thinking that Beyoncé’s career is at risk.
