Jessie J weathers the storm in the video for “Who You Are,” the empowering ballad off her debut album of the same name. The British songbird, who had to pull out of her U.S. tour with Katy Perry due to a foot injury, stares into the camera as she belts in her bedroom. Raindrops start to fall before building into a torrential downpour, but a soaking wet Jessie perseveres, emerging stronger than ever. Watch her make it through the rain.
less is more! …She has an amazing voice but she over sings every melody to death…the damn pressure to be the most exciting and the most crazy and the most different “singer” turns them into drag queens and scream teens…what a pity…none of them has the sophistication of an Adele, a Toni Braxton, a Jody Watley or a young Whitney…less is more…
@Fa, she does overdue it sometimes but even when she tones it down her voice is better the most of those ppl you named except whitney. Adele and toni dont have her range.
@rainman, its not only about the range all the time otherwise Diana Ross would not be who she is…the presentation, vocal tone goes along with the style and sophistication…all these elements complete each other in a best case! But well…I guess I am speaking for a minority looking at the way women in pop dress and present themselves…Lucky minority!
I agree with you. In my opinion (and it’s just an opinion), it does sound like she’s trying a little to hard…
…BUT! I can’t lie. It is refreshing to see someone with actual talent. Most songs on the radio now are just pretty faces and and so-so voices on top of a techno beat. UGH! To each his own.
I still say she killed Katy Perry’s “Firework” at the MTV Awards. I don’t think I would’ve appreciated that if I was Ms. Perry. But she is a hungry artist…so I can’t knock her at all. It seems to be working for her.
everything about Jessie J screams trend to me. her hair her wardrobe, now that adele is taking over by using 0 gimmick, she’s putting out a very simple video. everything she does is predictable
Doesn’t Sound Good. Jessie isn’t an recording artist, she’s just to unique to hit the studio. Please just sing live you sound better there. Studio’s aren’t for everyone who can sing sick.
I Love Jessie J., I Love The Song “Who You Are”, My Most Favorite Song Off A Good Album “Who You Are”, and I Love The Video, But I Just Wished It Had A More Meaningful Image Like The Song… BUT I STILL LOVED IT!!!… #TeamJessieJFor2011AndBeyond.
as soon as someone tries to be a little different, they get scolded and compared to every damn person out there. let people LIVE THERE LIVES the way they wanna live it different and free… god do i hate people the judge and criticize constantly about new people being in the music business #stfu
You know what? I know it seems like she’s singing a little high too much in that song…BUT:
1.) She is a new singer and she has to prove herself
2.) If you had pipes like that and an opportunity like this, would you just “ooh and Ahh” your way through it?
I sure wouldn’t! I wish her the best! I think with a few years and some good song writers, she’s got potential to be a star…IF they don’t make her yell at me everytime. Balance the songs out and she’s got a long way to go! Go, Jessie, GO!
