DMX Doesn't Regret Past Mistakes, Discusses Return to Music
DMX marked his return to the spotlight with a rip-roaring performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. As part of his comeback tour, the Yonkers rapper also stopped by “106 & Park” with Swizz Beatz to premiere his video for “Last Hope” and speak about reuniting with his fellow Ruff Ryder.
Despite his public trials and tribulations, X is not looking back. “I wouldn’t change one thing,” he told hosts Rocsi and Terrence. “That made me the man I am today and I love the way I am.”
When asked what he thought of today’s popular rappers, he responded, “I really don’t think about other rappers, no disrespect. I’d rather focus on what I am seeing, the message I need to get across.”
On “Last Hope,” X rhymes over a beat which was previously used by Drake. “I didn’t know it was his song,” said X. “I heard the beat, the hook. I’m like, ‘I gotta beast on that.’ Thanks for bringing it to the table, I guess.”
He is now back in the lab with Swizz crafting new material. “Expect the unexpected. Expect the new improved,” announced Swizzy. “Expect hip-hop. Expect real music. Expect the Dog to be back.”
