Rap-Up.com || Keri Hilson Channels Emotions on Third Album

Fresh from her European tour, Keri Hilson made a stop at “106 & Park,” where she was recognized for her work to help improve kids’ lives through education with the Get Schooled campaign.

“That’s so special,” said the blonde bombshell upon receiving the “Get Schooled” award. “It’s not that I feel obligated, but these are things that I love to do. I come from a family of educators. It means a lot for me to be able to do it. It’s like works of the heart.”

Miss Keri also revealed that she’s back in the studio working on her third album. “There’s some people in the world that aren’t gon’ like this album coming from me,” she warned. “As I was experiencing the world, there were things that I was also experiencing on a personal front, and in my music it’s coming out. There’s a specific few people who ain’t gon’ like to listen to this album. Very emotional, I’ll say that.”

The album is awaiting a release date while she decides whether to release another single off her current project. “You guys let me know whether you want to see another single off of No Boys Allowed,” she told the audience. “We’re still trying to figure out ‘All the Boys,’ ‘Buyou’… We’re trying to figure out if we want to release another single or move on to the third, but I’m always in the studio.”

What happened to her? I remember she was huge with that song with Kanye West and Ne-Yo, but then I never heard from her again. Well she had some explicit video on WorldStarHipHop called “Love The Way You F*** Me” where she was popping her p**** for dear life so I’m guessing things never really worked out….

She’s been around since the Kanye & Ne-Yo song, she never left. She also had a song after “The Way You Love Me” (the pussy popping song) called “Pretty Girl Rock” which was a huge hit. @ASDF, Well i see u want to take it there. ciara unfortunately hasnt even made it to the 150,000 mark in record sales of Basic Instinct and Fantasy ride is sitting at 193k. OUCH. Atleast keri sold more than that her first week and has been able to release more singles. Her label hasnt given up on her like Ciara. Lets just leave it at that

I am kind of disappointed with the way the singles from “No Boys Allowed” were handled. I feel like “One Night Stand” and “Lose Control” could’ve been monster hits on urban radio but once she released them they just slipped into oblivian. The videos for both those songs were sexy too; especially “Lose Control.” As for her 3rd album, I’m excited but I just don’t want it to be rushed. I’ll always support Keri. Lastly, it’s a good look for her to be recognized for helping the youth and you can tell she’s excited to get an award for that.

@Kyle, I definitely agree with you No Boys Allowed. Is a great album. But I think her team dropped the ball on which singles to put out. I think if she would have put the right singles out at the right time She would have pushed more albums out instead of rushing.

@Kyle, You are right. Keri’s singles were all good songs, but promotion was lacking so they got no type of airplay. I think she needs to scrap the idea of another single and move on to that third album. If she takes her time and perfects that one and promotion is on point like it was with the first album, she’ll be just fine.

Either you’re a complete idiot or you think I am to believe that it is all about Rihanna. True, she is a talented young lady who has become a star. However, it is Keri who has penned more hits for many artists (including Rihanna) and her fans have always been wondering about her music. She doesn’t have to sing all the time, she writes too. You couldn’t possibly be a Rihanna fan bashing another artist. I am just not now getting into Rihanna’s music, and I do like her now, but you don’t see me bashing other artists just to put Rihanna on a pedastal. Shame on you, grow up, live and learn.

Im definately disappointed that One Night Stand and Lose Control werent smash hits on the charts especially One Night Stand that song should have been #1 on Billboard r&b/hiphop for sure but sometimes things just dont work out. Keri is an extremely talented artist but I think for now she should just take a break then come back but then i think if she comes back haters are gonna come out the woodwork and call her a Has-Been smh. Yall need to understand she works her ass off she deserves all the success but these haters are just bitter and hate to see her succeed. its always Beyonce and Rihanna and yall act like there isnt room for anyone else. Its sickening really. What a cold world.

Im very CONFUSED by Keri. Her 1st album was a good look and a really great 1st effort from a new artist. But this 2nd album didnt step it up from there! She only had a few good songs on there and the rest fell into the filler category. ALSO after she did the, “The Way You F*** Me” video (BAD MOVE!) – I think she left us all confused. I almost get the feeling she’s trying too hard. Trying to compete with Rihannas and Beyonces of the world and not just being herself. But since then she seems to have just been missing altogether. SO with that said – I hope with her next album, she can revive what looks to be turning into a downward spiral.

C’mon Keri…let’s make this one count! “In A perfect World” was amazing. “No Boys Allowed” was good but not as amazing. “Beautiful Mistake” should have been the single that followed “One Night Stand”. “Lose Control” was too Rihanna-ish so people weren’t feeling it for you. This album should be less conceptual than NBA and just more of good music like IAPW. Less “Pretty Girl Rocks” & “Lose Control” more “Slow Dance” & “Energy”, works best for you!

NBA was a good album…but the stans of other artist couldn’t deal and shaded it constantly. The label poorly pushed the lead single which threw things off out the gate and set the tone for how they would mishandle the entire project. NBA was a failure in a lot of ways, except musically. Keri hasn’t had a bad album, just no support.

As for her styling, she needs to quit with the freelancers and hire a capable stylist within her budget. This particular look wasn’t bad at all, some of the previous poster just have poor eyes, but we’ve seen a lot worse from Keri in the past.
