Video: J. Cole – ‘Lost Ones’

J. Cole

J. Cole goes back in time and shares a personal moment from his life in the emotional video for “Lost Ones,” one of the most powerful tracks off his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story.

“With just a Dollar and a Dream, this video was shot in 2008 before I even had a record deal,” he writes. “Three years later, watching it still gives me the same emotions. This is dedicated to the Lost Ones.”

In the BBGUN-directed clip, a 23-year-old Cole is seen arguing with his teary-eyed girlfriend about their unborn child. He wants her to have an abortion because he’s not ready to support a child, but she strongly disagrees, telling him that it’s not his decision. Later on, Cole walks by the playground wondering what could have been as he sees a child playing. Did he make the right decision?

Amazing! I like Cole subject range unlike Drake who gives us the same song over & over again.

    Joe Reply:

@real talk, Don’t bring Drake into this. It’s not his thing. Can you imagine a Drake song about pregnancy? Cole does his thing, Drake talks about his life. It’s that simple. I doubt Biggie Smalls would have made a song about teenage pregnancy this deep, but 2pac did. It’s just their style. They both ended up being two of the greatest, so will Drake and Cole.

the funny thing about this video is that he’s arguing the fact that he has no money to support the child but they’re living in a fly ass penthouse! Other than that, this video is real deep & I hope the BET & MTV play this because this is really something young people need to see

i don’t speak a perfect english but when I discovered her 3 months ago, I understood everything.
The video is ok but could have been more epic and expensive.

btw,the lyrics of the song are beautiful and intelligent
    this is real rap

one of the most beautiful and meaning song i’ve heard.

that’s the kind of song that even if it’s not a hit or even if it doesn’t sell, is a CLASSIC
there’s no need 1 millions sales for this king of songs
