Rap-Up.com || New Music: Rihanna

With 11 chart-topping singles under her belt, Rihanna aims for No. 1 again with her latest “You Da One.” Produced by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, Ke$ha) and written by Ester Dean, the irresistible island-flavored jam is the second single from the pop princess’ sixth album Talk That Talk, in stores November 21.

“‘You Da One’ is one of those records that became very addictive for me,” RiRi told Ryan Seacrest. “I could not stop listening to this song. It’s very infectious. It’s a sweet little love letter. I love that it has that reggae vibe, but it also has that little bit of dubstep. It’s kind of dirty. I love it.”

Well Riri said this album was gonna be like a melding of everything she’s done and this song def proves that. It’s got the caribbean undertones, popish melody, dance beat, and a dubstep breakdown. Idk how people are calling this generic. Yeah the lyrics are not “meaningful” but this isn’t like most of the stuff on the radio. The mixture of genres is refreshing. I think this is a winner.
