Rap-Up.com || Rihanna Performs ‘We Found Love’ on ‘The X Factor’ [Video]

Rihanna kicked off the U.S. promo for her new album Talk That Talk with an electrifying performance on Thursday’s “X Factor” results show. Fresh off her tour overseas, the pop diva delivered her No. 1 single “We Found Love” for the first time on television. Wearing torn jeans and a bomber jacket, RiRi reenacted scenes from the video with her dancers as neon signs lit up the stage.

The global superstar also shared some advice for the contestants. “You have to love what you do because if you don’t, it’s a waste of time,” she said. “If you love it, it never feels like work.”

That was a mess. I don’t even know why she had a microphone.

Clearly she’s tired and didn’t have time to figure out a performance for this or You Da One. On her day in between shows, she’s flying from the UK to LA and then back again to squeeze in promo.

She shouldn’t be putting an album out right now. She recorded in hotel rooms while on tour and she can’t promote it because she’s on tour. I’m waiting on her exhaustion fallout.

@c.j, Almost all artists sing with a backing track and Rihanna has always used a backing track. Usually the live feed is louder than the backing track. In this case whoever handles that for the x factor fucked up big time and ruined the sound. The live feed was barely on although there were points where you could hear it. Even the backing track was low as hell! Whoever works on this show needs to be fucking fired cause they couldn’t handle the sound at all.

So if the “backing track” was too loud during her performance on the show then it was that way during sound check. If she had an issue w/ it, she would have corrected it then. But she didn’t because she lipsynched 95% of that song.

I’m shocked that some bloggers and comments are saying she was lip syncing! It’s a back up track moron. I heard her and she did great. She use to get scared and have a shakey voice but she’s really got great confidence now. She did amazing and fixed her only problem. I love her as a performer, singer and artist. She listened to feedback and changed her one serious flaw. She gave a great performance.

I hated this performance. However no shade to Rihanna. She works very hard. Maybe too hard, cause you can tell the girl is tired. This performance had way too much going on. She sang with the recording and most of the time she allowed it, to out sing her. She basically fist pumped, jumped, and screamed the whole time. I think she’s even put on some weight. BUT, again no shade here. The girl is a star no matter what, and whatever she touches turns to gold. So get some rest Rih! We all wanna see you at your best.

Autotune is when the voice is synthasized and allows the register of the voice to go from a very high octive to a very low octive. A play back is a prerecorded track with vocals but you can sing along or over, something like karoke.

I’m reading these comments like WTF??? HOW was this a horrible performance???? Rihanna is not a precise or meticulous performer- clearly y’all weren’t expecting some Janet Jackson type choreo, were y’all?
And then to say she isn’t singing live… say what you want about her vocals, but Rihanna ALWAYS sings live. The backing track for this particular performance was just too loud, so it was almost as if u couldn’t hear her actually singing. But u did, and she was.
This was a great, fun, high-energy performance. I loved it, the crowd loved it, the girl did damn good.

@KillBill, This isn’t the first time backing tracks were to loud; don’t act like it’s never happened before, and I’m sure all of those people had sound checks before too. The easy way around it is to not back the entire song, but at the end of the day that does not equal lip syncing.

@ Everyone saying Rihanna lipsynched – She didnt (although tonight, I wish she would’ve). She sang into a live mic while the recording played. So at times when she wasnt singing you still would hear a vocal. If you pay close attention to her breathing and certain parts of the performance – you can hear her clearly. She even sounds like the track at times because she singing along with the original vocal.

Wow clearly y’all are deaf. She did NOT lip-sync, she NEVER does. And she never really dances. This was meant to just be fun and energetic… thats exactly what it was. She did have a backing track, most artists do, and it might have been a little louder than it should have been, but she did her thing and worked that stage. It was a great, energetic, and fun performance!

She was jumping up and down like she was an audience member and not a performer, the track was turned up loud to drown her out (Xfactor has 20 people on stage a week, it wasn’t their mics) She sung to a backtrack and still sounded weak and didn’t move but was still out of breath and sweaty.

I don’t like how she pulled the mic away at the parts where she has to hold the note for a while. And you can hear that she was singing it lower than it is supposed to be sung.

Nonetheless I still enjoyed it, the energy was there, it felt like the video. The dancers were going off and that little choreo section gave me some life.

lip syncing. Her talent and artistics abilities are going to a hopless place. She can’t sing it live cause her vocals on the record are full of effects to make it on point. As her team know she can not sing it live they turned up the volume of the vocals to hide her real horrible voice. A true artist would do it without any lead vocal on the track

That was her voice the song was playing in the background but her voice still overpowered it. I mean get off her ass and give the girl a break!! I was surprised to see that she gained some weight ! Her cheeks are big but still look cute on her though. Now her performance she was singing I could hear her a little bit but she just made sure that the track played in the background takes over her live vocals so that we can’t completly hear her. Wow, just wow. I feel like I just got done watching a high school talent show. I don’t want to contradict myself but I really do consider myself a Rihanna fan. I will be buying “Talk That Talk” because her songs are super catchy but she really CAN’T PERFORM FOR SHIT. I am embarrassed for her because out of all the accolodes she receives, performances like this just leave me wondering why I continue to support an “artist” like this. The background music was sooo loud and when I did hear her singing it just wasn’t good.
