Common, T-Pain Share Memories on MTV's 'When I Was 17'

Common

Before he was winning Grammys, writing a memoir, and starring in box office hits, Common was a self-proclaimed ladies’ man at Luther High School South in Chicago. In 1989-1990, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. was a basketball player who freestyled in gym class and eventually opened for N.W.A. On the latest episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” he recalls the time he tried to remove his braces and how he dated two girls at once.

T-Pain has come a long way since 2002. The Tallahassee native looks back on harder times when he was living out of his 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass and almost got robbed while making out in the back seat. Find out how he paid to keep the lights on and how he met his future wife Amber.
