In her third video diary, Roc Nation singer Rita Ora takes on OutKast’s classic “Hey Ya!” as requested by her fans. But don’t expect her to shake it like a Polaroid picture with this cover. The blonde bombshell performs a stripped-down acoustic version of André 3000 and Big Boi’s 2003 Grammy-winning single. How did she do?
Well finally she shows us that she can sing! I mean I’ve been listening to all this hype about her but she never had any tracks to listen too. I think she might be bigger than Bridget Kelly bcuz she has way more personality and personal style. But who knows what the future will hold
@Mrs. Cole, She has vocals on 2 Craig David tracks from around 2007/08. Listen to Awkward from Craig David’s album Trust Me. Also, check Where’s Your Love from his Greatest Hits.
!!!!!!!! I’ve been paying attention to her for the personality and style but damn! If her music, resonates with me, she has a fan.
I love Hey Ya but I’ve never payed attention to the lyrics. I know what it says but I never thought about it. I want a whole performance, serious acoustic.
roc nation loves the exotic ladies. i love her accent. i need some material from her before i can judge if i think she will make it but so far it looks like she could be the next big female artist.
According to Young Guru (Roc Nations engineer)they have a massive record for her that they are sitting on. I think they are trying to create a fanbase organically for her like how they did J Cole.
I think Rita (if its Jay Z’s plan) will be the one to take Rihanna’s place.
Not that I wish it on Riri, but there are going to be comparisons due to the RocNation connection and Rita seems to have the un forced style, personality and more importantly voice that I think both fans and haters of Rihanna will eat up.
@MusicFan101, I don’t think she’ll take Rihanna’s place. Rihanna isn’t known for being a quality vocalist. She’s known for being Rihanna, RiRi, the Bajan superstar. Her name is a brand. I personally like Rihanna better than Rita, though there is no denying that Rita’s voice is much more developed than Rihanna’s. Rita will probably be succesful, but to take Rihanna’s place, she’ll have to wait for Rihanna to lose her charisma.
Didn’t necessarily like the way she sang it, but her delivery did make me listen to the words of the song. Something that OutKast failed to do for me. It was dope. :-)
this is the young beyonce, thaz right.she gonna take over after beyoncwe is a old hag n has stopped rippin every ones song 4 profit coz she lackin creativity.

If she’s “the new….” anything, it’s Beyonce, not Rihanna. Rihanna is only 23! Beyonce is the one who’s 30 and looking old.
