Ashanti returns with her new single “The Woman You Love” featuring Busta Rhymes. The R&B songstress tries to make her relationship work, but it’s not enough. “I’m tired of being tired trying to love, trying to fight/ And I’m running out of tries,” she sings over the Jerry Wonda-produced beat before Bussa Buss comes in to plead his case. The song, released via Ashanti’s own label Written Entertainment, is expected to appear on her upcoming fifth album.

I love it. I think she’s clearly moving in a new direction, sonically. This sound is, in my opinion, reminiscent of 90s R&B. Especially with that little loop. And I even think she’s step up somewhat lyrically. This could do really well on radio.

Okay I can get into this. Listening for the first time as I type and I just got the chills. I wish the arrangement had more momentum but this has def got some mid-late 90′s swag. @well well, Last time i checked Ashanti was in the Guinness Book Of World Records For First Female Artist in Music History to Debut with first sales over 500,000 copies. Ashanti is also the only female artist to have 3 songs consecutively at 1,2 and 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time no female artist can touch that record not even your favs. Oh and Her second album debuted at #1 also with 326,000 copies. Ashanti is already a household name in the music industry and she writes her own songs unlike your favs so when it comes to competition Ashanti is at the top. Ashanti is no one album wonder 3 platinum plus albums in a row and she writes all her singles. Yeah shes shitting on your fav. Sit down!

At first I was like “meh” but after listening again it’s pretty good. I Love the sound, and I like ashanti, I havent been wowed by her yet, but im looking forward to it.

Im also looking forward to more kelly rowland, some Brandy, A Ciara comeback, and A.keys! :)

It really annoys me when people say R&B needs to come back. When did it leave? I hope you guys aren’t expecting it sound like the 90s because that would be pure boring, & redundant. 90s R&B had its chance, so has the 80s, 70s, and early 2000s has it type of R&B, now it’s time for the 2010s to have it’s version so deal with it.

@brainfood.com, I would like to see it’s evolution too. But it’s these R&B girls that is too worried about the Rihanna’s, Katy’s, and Gaga’s their pop stars. Adele, and Beyonce ain’t afraid to release diff. music.

But what I have noticed is when Bey released I Am… alot of the R&B girls were not out, now since Bey released a heavy ballad album they want to come back, maybe they have hope now.

Man! I here you! I thank God for Adele…I just hope Hollywood don’t change the sound of her music.

And kudos to B for being one of the few mainstream artists that at the very least still uses instruments…you know what I”m talkin’ about…the ones that don’t come from a computer!

I just want to see some modern versions of SWV, TLC, Aaliyah, Mariah (when she used to SANG), Whitney (in her prime)…that would be breath taking!

But you got to either have made your mark like B, or be gutsy enough to come out with your own sound like Adele.

I used to like Rihanna, but “You da one,” has my love for her music on life support!

This is a great song, it’s on some real Hip-Hop/Soul sh*t. Of course, it would never become a crossover hit or anything, but it’s a dope song none the less. I’ve always liked Ashanti, maybe if she hooked up with a Drake, Kanye, or someone like that, they could hook her up with a big hit. I’m rooting for her comeback regardless!

im loving this song!! no matter the artist there will always be negative things said about them just something u cant change all u can do is keep supporting her and after the career shes had to even be brought up in 2011 going into 2012 is enough said that shows she still has some impact and fans and im rooting for her to the fullest keep up the good work she took time out to work on her and to come back even better n stronger which to me shows a true artist
