Katy Perry goes for the record by teaming with B.o.B on the remix to her sixth single “The One That Got Away.” Bobby Ray tacks on a couple verses to the Dr. Luke and Max Martin production off Perry’s Grammy-nominated album Teenage Dream. @Zack, It’s just a damn remix #fallback, and she has already broken records by being a female doing it, so how is she pathetic for reaching for the stars instead of settling for the clouds. A feature from B.O.B. doesn’t equate to a #1 anyway. At least she didn’t sell her album for a dollar on Amazon to sell a million.

Eminem broke Tupac’s record for the most albums sold by a rapper ever. Is tupac legacy getting destroyed no? no, tupac is one of Eminem’s idol’s. Legends will always live on through the fans and music. They can never be replaced.

Obviously she has talent if she has 5 number 1 singles. Dosen’t matter if you remix a song or just perform in solo. If it’s number 1 its a hit.
You must be a hater its okay she’s not going away so you mise well get over it lol. Lots of artist’s remix their own songs. Some artist get even bigger hits cause of that. Dosen’t mean you aren’t talented. Just means your smart and know what your doing. The songs are on the album just remixed, so your wrong again. They can’t add them otherwise they would.

I love Katy. Only people mad are the ones that are pressed. If I was in position to break a record I’d be doing the same thing. Michael is forever the King of Pop, no changing that. Katy’s #1′s are amazing as well. And she is talented, those #1′s are proof. I hope she does break the record.

It’s not a matter of breaking the record so much, but as a public we’re being propped to accept to special treatment for certain artists needs and ambitions, under the pretense of “breaking records” or “making history”.,.

The reality is Katy isn’t the only artist who wants or deserves a number one in the country..there are many others!! from Bruno Mars to Drake and Florence&, there are others who want and deserve their number ones records too! and right now it seems as if billboard has to revolve around Katy’s sole needs to achieve her goals..
ok, so what? the others just have to wait forever then?? whenever another singer or group gets their song stuck at #3, or 7 or even 98 don’t think they get frustrated too? or at least they would prefer it continued climbin to the top spot? indeed!

with hers ,besides getting her song discounted at .69 cents (the ONLY artist with such a deal in the top 75 acc to the billboard artile); she also releases remixes of her singles featuring artists with a proven track record of charts success just to up her own chances (that one could pass, if only for the shrewdness of it)..

But that’s probably just part of it; add other advantages from prominent “placement” on sites like youtube alongside the likes of Bieber and Lady Gage just to put out accounts of fake views records being broken (once again) and it gets right down ridiculous..

With THAT much preferential treatment given to one artist just to achieve a number one, how manageable would it be if the whole industry started to behave in this manner, ie set their own prices one after the other..let’s be real…might as well make the songs free or start counting fans covers then call it a day!!…

In 5 years, no one will know – or care – who Katy Perry is a la Jessica Simpson. I like some of her music, but dropping your single to $.67 just to assuage your ego is lame.

@corlista, I seriously doubt that. Jessica Simpson’s biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 was over 12 years ago and it peaked at #3. All of her other singles didn’t even crack the top 13. Jessica Simpson at her peak hasn’t achieved even a quarter of the success Katy has. Katy has broken all sorts of Billboard records this year, all from an album that was released over a year ago (August 2010). She’s here to stay. I don’t understand why everyone is so irate over her success
