Lil’ Kim is back in black. The Queen Bee released a new promo photo for her fans on Christmas to create buzz for her upcoming EP. In the image, photographed by Mike Antonio, a long-haired Kim shows off her legs in a black leotard and red bottoms. “I’m Coming!!!!!!!!!” tweeted Kim, whose 5-track EP is scheduled to drop before the end of the year.

For me, it’s not that the picture is photoshopped because what photoshoots aren’t these days. It is BADLY done. Looks like something I did on Adobe. I hate that obvious airbrush look. Vivica Fox’s photos are usually done like this. It’s tacky looking. Sad because that outfit is super cute and she has a sassy pose.

It took 10 years for lil kim’s album to reach double platinum “certification”. This means it has shipped two million albums, not sold.

In a little more than a year, Nicki has SOLD 1.6 million. I know, that is less than two million. Nonetheless, lil kim’s album came out pre-digital consumerism. If you look at the article below, it details how album sales have been cut by more than half, due to free music sites (aka naptster) and other ways of getting music. If we take album released today, and multiply by two (as aforementioned album sales have decreased by two), Nicki would have sold 3.2 million albums. I might add that the data I have referred you to only incorporates losses stopping at 2009, which means album sales have further plummeted.

I will stop here, and ask “BP” to stop fueling this stupidity. However, I want to make you look stupid again, so give me the opportunity.

Most female rappers can’t pull off such a high fashion pose and picture without looking cartoonish or “ghetto.” Lil Kim has made daring fashion choices in the past, but non have resorted to hanging a chicken wing around her neck. Her style has evolved and she HAS SET SO MANY TRENDS. Her references to Moschino, Gabbana, Bvglari, Christian Lacroix in her lyrics (late 90′s – early 00′s), as well as the pieces she has worn have made her a staple in high-end hip hop style.

In addition, her rhyming abilities and wordplay are on another level. Lil’ Kim is a veteran in the music business – PERIOD. Until Nicki has won a GRAMMY, there needs to be no comparison between the two. I am not a Nicki hater, but I would like to see a little more refinement and elegance to what she is doing. Nicki is talented, but hasn’t quite caught up to where Lil’ Kim is. I believe that Lil’ Kim has obtained that level of sophistication and this photo represents that. It looks as if it could be an ad campaign for Dior Haute Couture or Givenchy Couture I hope that this next project for her will showcase her lyrical abilities and flaunt her evolving style.

Umm ok to the person who said it only took Nicki a year to accomplish what Kim did in her whole career.Ok so umm who did you think made it easy for her to do that in a year? I used to admire Lil Kim that was until her ‘beef’ with Nicki Minaj came around. Nicki suddenly shot up which she deserved because she put her effort in, however once she rose Lil Kim came back from out of the blue claming Nicki copied her and insulted her. Obviously if you watch the interiews Nicki shows nothing BUT respect at the start for the older generation of female rappers but Lil Kim used Nicki as away to get her status back and the only way you seriously hear her name in media now is when it is assosiacted with Nicki, which is higlhy pathetic, she is a good rapper but now Nicki is current and what the public want, she needs to get over her issues and imbrace that maybe Nicki sampled her a bit but she is orginal there isn’t another female rapper like Nicki and she deserves the title as the New Queen of Rap.

@Beth, I was about to say something very similar. I could agree more. I am deffinatly a Nicki fan, and havent really ever been a big Lil Kim fan, but all this fighting over whos the best etc, doesnt make any sense because its two completely different styles of rap.

Kim is old school, and keeping it to how the ways use to be. Which is good, and why she still may have the title of the “queen bee”, but Nicki is doing her own thing. The only way she was going to make it was if she changed, and adapted to what people want know which is why she has mixed rap with pop. Kim has her old supporters, and Nicki needs to gain the respect of new supporters.

Everyone needs to stop hating on either, Kims photo looks great, but I do think it is a photoshop mess, purely because she looks nothing like that normally! She may suprise everyone and get on to the charts, but the only thing that will get her there completely is if she adapts to change like Nicki has had too.
