“Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well,” chants M.I.A. on “Bad Girls,” the first single from her upcoming fourth album, due this summer. An early version of the rattling Danja production appeared on her 2011 mixtape Vicki Leekx, and the final song will hit iTunes tomorrow. A video, directed by Romain Gavras (“Born Free”) will premiere Friday, the same day as her collaboration with Madonna and Nicki Minaj (“Gimme All Your Luvin’”). And then there’s that little thing called the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday.

@ValerieV MUA, THAT IS VERY TRUE SHE DOES TALK ABOUT REAL STUFF THAT HALF OF THESE RAPPER/ ARTIST DONT TALK ABOUT & SHE PROBABLY NEVER EVEN LIVED IN THE HOOD YOU HABE TO LISTEN OR READ HER LYRICS……AND HER BEATS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD ONLY M.I.A. DELIEVERS THE TYPE OF MUSIC SHE DOES THATS WHY SHE’S SO DOPE CAUSE SHE LITERALLY IS THE ONLY ONE IN HER OWN LANE.

@RACKSONRACKS, actually she is from the poorest area of sri lanka, her father was a terrorist, and she was displaced during the civil war. She’s from the real hood even if it isn’t in America. She knows about some real shit which is why she goes hard over her records.

This is definitely M.I.A.’s style and I LOVE IT. She has always done her own thing and doesn’t sound like any other artist out there. This song is good timing, especially if she wants to capitalize off of her feature on Madonna’s new single dropping in a couple days. It would be great if we got a new album by summer:) Still bumpin “MAYA.”

What happened to the M.I.A. who broke musical boundaries and wrote lyrics inspired by meaningful topics like poverty and the Sri Lankan civil war?
Song is fine, but she seems to be resting on her laurels. There’s no substance here.
