« 50 Cent Speaks on Million-Dollar Super Bowl Bet [Video]John Legend Performs New Single in Cayman Islands [Video] »Pharrell Hits the Studio with Justin Bieber, Astro![]() Pharrell is taking a new generation of young stars under his wing. The Neptunes super-producer hit the studio with Justin Bieber in Miami to work on his upcoming album Believe over the weekend. While in town, the Biebs also logged studio time with Timbaland and went skateboarding with Lil Wayne. In addition to the teen idol, Skateboard P cooked up some beats for former “X Factor” contestant and rapper Astro aka the Astronomical Kid, who recently inked a deal with Epic Records. Judging from the wheel in Astro’s hand, it looks like they also found time to play Mario Kart. Add them to Pharrell’s growing list of recent collaborators including Ne-Yo, Wiz Khalifa, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. Who gon’ stop him, huh?

Sorry, but I have to say, I am sick and tired of these pop boys trying to do black R&B style music. They want to indulge in black music, yet dont live the black lifestyle. From Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, etc…when have you seen them take a black woman home to their mothers?? Never!!!!!! Just an example, thats all.

@Kawame W. Curry, R&B is not a race-specific music genre.

@Lauryn, When I hear R&B, I naturally think, “this is some damn good music.” It doesn’t matter what color the person is who’s singing it!

@Kawame W. Curry,
I Agree, But Not With JT! JT Is Naturally Soulful & Even Though Came Into The Industry w/ NSYNC He Was Very Soulful Then. Justin Bieber Yet Agin Has No Identity & That’s Boys Don’t Respect Him! But Astro Is One Ugly-A.s Kid!

@Lauryn, I dont buy into JT either, because he may have a soulful Voice, but he does not identify with Black culture. When the Janet superbowl situation happened, where was he? He left her Out to dry…He couldn’t take the heat…He used her for popularity at that time, and left her by herself. I just dont like that.

@Kawame W. Curry, so you’re saying that if a classic R&B song by whitney houston or stevie wonder was made by a white person instead, it wouldn’t be a good song anymore?
so an R&B song about love can’t be sung by a white person because white people aren’t capable of love?
i bet you can’t even name ONE jt song that’s ‘too black for him’
so why don’t you just take your racism elsewhere?

Music is Music no matter what color you are. You like what you like. I don’t know why people have a hard time accepting it. I like ALL KINDS of genres and wouldn’t wanna be judged like this, it’s pointless. ANYBODY can relate the lyrics of a song. It’s not like they singing about something specifically black related. They sing about stuff everybody can relate to from love to having fun.

@People, Keep that to yourself..Believe that if you want!!! If that’s the case, then why are blacks criticized for rap music, yet Eminem is the biggest selling rapper?? Please answer.

Justin is talented. His songs with brezzy and Boys II Men showed his potential. Look what Pharrell did to Justin Timberland. Timbo and Pharrell made him. Maybe Pharrell can do the same with JB.
Astro can kick rocks.

black people want to be mainstream and shit, so obviously a white person will get inspired by it but thats wrong right?
did white people hate mj or whitney or rihanna when they did/do pop music?
shut the eff up and just enjoy music
might as well make black charts and a white one
i cant believe its 2012 and people bitch about that

I’m not the biggest Justin Bieber supporter, but I have to say, the people on this site hating on a teenager are pathetic. Defend the spoiled, overrated brat Astro–hate on the Canadian just because he’s getting some well-deserved recognition.
He’s talented and I think the darker hair looks good on him.

I’m glad to hear this! This is a really good move for Bieber. This is the next direction music wise I knew he would take. Pharrell and Timbaland…smart move. I think they will be able to take his music to another level. The kid has definitely grown vocally. Can’t wait to hear what they come up with. :)

For the comments at the top, I am white and listen to both black and white music (mostly black to be honest). It isn’t about race it’s about the music.
Though I do notice that some white people will only listen to white artists (eg. Eminem and JT), which kinda annoys me cause they make similar music to black artists but won’t listen to it. I’m a fan of Jay-Z, Eminem, Colplay, Beyonce (obviously), Kanye etc. I just listen to good music.
As for the post, JB, I don’t really care about him. Will be interesting to see what direction Astro goes in. Pharrell is an amazing producer/songwriter and hopefully they can make some good music. Astro’s a very talented kid.

@Kawame W. Curry, you are a complete retard for even typing your comment dude. Its not about race. Its about art and music. You dont have to be black to rap or sing r&b…..or any genre of music for that matter…and…what is the black “LIFESYLE”?……retard
