Iggy Azalea Debuts Tupac-Inspired Song at L.A. Show [Video]

Iggy Azalea

Chaos erupted at Iggy Azalea’s sold-out show at Dim Mak Studios in Los Angeles last night. There were fights, purses stolen, and even arrests made as her fans, who call themselves Azaleans, eagerly awaited the arrival of the Aussie rap sensation. L.A. Weekly described the scene as “dangerously close to Michael Jackson-type hysteria.”

When the blonde MC finally hit the stage around 1 a.m., she performed her popular Ignorant Art mixtape cuts including “Pu$$y” and “My World,” and debuted a new Boi-1da-produced song, which borrows from her idol Tupac’s “Picture Me Rollin’.” “I got a lot on my mind/ I’m about to take what’s mine/ It’s my time/ Bitch, picture me rollin’,” she rapped.

After landing a deal with Interscope Records, Iggy has enlisted T.I. to executive produce her debut album The New Classic, due in June.

@damnnnn, typical elist 2pac fans that no one likes. yall dont want anybody to remember pac huh? cant even pay tribute to dude without some groupies getting offended. she not even trying to be pac… she’s honoring his memory and that’s not okay with you. then when nobody mentions him to get upset and say hip hop is dead. yall are hypocrites who will never be satisfied. seriously just stop build a fucking time machine and permanently set it to 1996. fucking over-sensitive clown as groupies.. yall make real pac fans look bad.

She was set up to fail when y’all put Tupac’s name on this. It’s Tupac inspired, doesn’t mean it’s gonna be on Pac’s level. This girl can actually flow and listening to her mixtape she has creative lines, metaphors, & swag. STFU & make an informed decision.

this is why no one fucks with pac fans. yall get offended at everything. cant even show respect to a brother without some groupie ho catching feelings over nothing. everytime someone says that niggas name your first reflex is to get offended. pac was great but that’s why no one talk about that nigga anymore. its not even worth it. always ends in some bullshit fight about nothing. yall always trying to play somebody for just trying to show love. so let’s see how you like it when no one remember this nigga. you’ll probably start screaming illuminati or some other dumb shit you brought on yourselves. fuck this post cause pac stans ruin everything.

I think they gassed her up for failure. I think her and machine gun kelly have a long way to go. They need to pay their dues, l think they got signed prematurely and now they are just riding a hyped up wave. and l think that’s whats wrong with hip hop and music in general. look at bridget kelly at roc nation. Jay Z said she had to develop and get experience before she even released her EP. And look at Machine Gun kelly crying cus he said his not getting any respect from radio. T.I. won’t get u any respect by co signing you. You in the West coast, how about get some in the west coast to co sing you? then you can start a real movement on the west and move on. the big boy plays your shit then on to N.Y.

@hate revolver, who are you a fucking internet a & r? they havent even failed yet and youre talking like their album just flopped. they are in a priviledge position and they’re taking advantage and its working. nothing wrong with that. in fact that’s great.

@Jerry, slow the fuck down.you are missing the point. Let me break it down for you more clearly.Does she have a buzz elsewhere besides L.A.? Does she even have a movement? Is she even selling small venues like Wiz, Yelawolf, Mac Miller or even MGK? NO!! all l’m saying is hiphop and music has been watered down and it’s causing sells to drop.I don’t knock the hustle. All I’m saying is if you are MGK don’t complain that no one knows you when you are not buzzin. The music business is losing money and they are running with anything and 360 deals ripping off artists. That’s my opinion.

    she is AUSTRALIAN.
she raps with a FAKE AMERICAN ACCENT
We in Australia laugh at her. She can’t get a gig here pretending to be something that she’s not which is why she had to move to the States.
She is making such a joke out of hip hop…..
People much a big deal about Rick Ross pretending that he’s some big ex coke dealer…..not only is this girl pretending she’s “street” she putting on a pretty dodgy fake accent to say it.

I don’t think the media should try and connect her Tupac cause no one will ever be able to live up to what he did in the game.. yet yall get sit here and bash her cause she wanted to show some love to her idol, this is her way of doing it so if your against her doing this song then youre essentially against someone paying homage to their idol

    [Reply]

  28. She

I do agree that they should not be bliiling her as the next Tupac…I dont think there will EVER be anothe pac. But as Iggy Azelea I think she is dope. I think she meant this song to be an homage, not as a way to upstage the original.
