Rap-Up.com || Christina Milian Talks Young Money Signing, New Album

Lil Wayne welcomed Christina Milian to the Young Money family at a lavish pre-Grammy celebration over the weekend. The newest Young Money member is now speaking out about her freshly-inked deal and plans for her next album.

“I’m going to be… Young Money!” the 30-year-old singer told Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio. “Yeah, I’ve signed with Young Money. It was pretty awesome. This weekend we had a big party, a big YMCMB party, and Drake was performing and we were all up on the stage and Wayne got up there and he announced it himself. And so I was kind of surprised and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is awesome!’”

Milian is currently recording her fourth album, her first since 2006’s So Amazin’. “We’re just getting started on it,” she said. “I’ve already halfway gotten there and when my mom and I went to Wayne and we played him some of the music, off the second song, he was like, ‘I love it. Let’s do this deal.’ I have some music that’s already going to be on it and the second half I’m working with them now.”

Weezy saw more than a pretty face in the “Dip It Low” hitmaker. “When they did a little background check, they saw even the songwriting, all that kind of stuff adds on top of, alright, she’s an actress, she’s a pretty face, she can actually sing, but not to mention she’s a songwriter. I thought that was cool that they even saw that.”

You can expect appearances from her new crew on the album. “They all get on each other’s records, so all I have to do is be home with everybody and we’ll just do lots of features.”

Milian was previously signed to Radio Killa Records. Her ex-husband and former label boss The-Dream offered his congratulations. “Congrats To Christina on her New Signing,” he tweeted. “Finally your fans can get the real you.”

Boring. She cant even write her own songs. What do they need her for? Nothing really simply to fill up space. Young moneys got no biz sense. Jayz wont even touch her wit a stick. Uggh

@Ijusthadsex, Actually she has potential, shes always had that something, like Rihanna, and shes done the legwork in this industry (pun intended) but i hope she finds herself not just some more generic pop/dance/techno whatever most artists are putting out. Wheres the real RNB gone? usher confessions beyonce b’day seems like its died out like hiphop shame really

@Real Issh, You know you & I are usually on the same page but in this case I disagree. I think YMCM just signs random artists(who willingly agree because right now that label is “the hot label”) & sits them on the shelf (Bow Wow, Busta Rhymes & Mystical). The only stars in that camp are Drake & Nicki … it will be interesting to see what they do when they have fulfilled their contractual obligations to YMCM. Will they leave or stay?

@Ijusthadsex, she writes her own music and even wrote hit for other ppl…in-fact when she was signed to Def-Jam, all they did was put her in a writer’s camp which means u write songs for your album or sell it to others. They made her sell most of her tracks which became hits for other people but when it always came down to her album they did bad management and bad choices for the music style for her. So she actually a really good artist, just too many people sleep on her. She been behind the scenes much more than she been actually being an artist.

This goes to “IJustHadSex”. Christina has actually written and sang for many artists. She co-wrote Justin Bieber’s song “Baby.” She also co-wrote Paula Deanda’s song “Walk Away.” She sang and co-wrote on Jennifer Lopez’s song “Play.” She has a lot of talent and potential as a singer and song writer. I am so excited for her!

I’m so glad shes been signed , shes actually a good co-writer and has wrote some of neyos song so i disagree with people who say shes a failure thats bullshit because she was with other labels it was bad management trying to turn her into something shes not. She can now be herself and do what she wants to do with a great music label!!
