Melanie Fiona gives her all on “This Time,” a collaboration with her Roc Nation affiliate J. Cole. The Canadian songbird announced that the song, which she performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this week, will be the next single off her sophomore album The MF Life, due March 20.

@whitechocolate, Artistically, Melanie trumps Jazmine. In every interview Melanie seems so in love with her profession and gets so excited talking about her music that it makes me just as excited about it. I love Jazmine’s raspiness in her voice because it’s so soulful but sometimes I think she strains it whereas I think Melanie has a little bit more control. An example of this is Cee-Lo’s “Fool For You.” Jazmine couldn’t have pulled it off like Melanie did.

@Kyle, I agree Melanie has a unique voice and incredible control. Its deep but at the same time the range she has is can be crazy or soothing without sounding like a gospel artist

@whitechocolate, It’s not a competition. It’s a video about Melanie’s song, what’s the purpose?

I want to listen to it so bad but I don’t want to spoil it when I get the album on March 20th. I feel like I’ve already heard enough of the album to know that I want it really, really bad. This will probably be my favorite R&B album of the year!

why is it that hardly anyone comments on a MF post? this girl is mad talented. she could use a few pointers on image bc she was looking a mess at the grammys — her dress was a bit tacky if you ask me. but other than that, the talent should speak for itself and i feel like hardly anyone cares or is taking notice.

@Rassie, I agree she is crazy talented and I am in love with her music, but a lot of people these days aren’t checking for talent, it seems that if an act doesn’t have a gimmick or their a** hanging out, the world isn’t interested. It’s a shame really.

J Cole should not make another mixtape, he needs to work on his album. When did fans become so use to getting free music, support good music (buy it) when artist provide it. Mixtapes are a part of the reason why hiphop is so watered down, focus on making the best possible album.
There is a reason why Nas, Jay, Kanye, Eminem never put out mixtapes, they allow the fans to miss them.

@flawda, I AGREE, i mean jay used to do the mixtape thing back from 99-2001 but then he cut that short..i think its a waste of talent to put that much energy into a mixtape, these days niggas mixtapes better then they albums..smh i understand when you first trying to get hot and make a name, but once you blow -fall back
