Kanye West Returns to Paris Fashion Week with New Collection

Kanye West

Unhinged by the critics, Kanye West returned to Paris Fashion Week to unveil his second womenswear line on Tuesday. The rapper-turned-designer presented 20 looks from his fall/winter ready-to-wear collection to a star-studded audience filled with designers and celebrities including Alicia Keys, Anna Wintour, Big Sean, Shyne, Kim Kardashian, Cassie, Common, Diddy, and Swizz Beatz. Following a musical intro, models strutted down the runway dressed in black leather, gold, velvet, crocodile, and fur.

Mr. West addressed his second foray into the world of womenswear. “I learned a lot from the last one,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “I’m learning every day. I’m a new designer. I’m taking baby steps.”

The new collection has already earned more favorable reviews than his first last fall. “This collection looks like he has had a lot of consultants working with him,” wrote the WSJ’s Christina Binkley. “But it’s way better than before.”

@uhuh, you mean coming from an uncle tom or a white person posing as a “brutha”

    Mentamir Reply:

@Jerry, I am a black woman and I don’t think that having a personal preference for white women makes a black man an Uncle Tom. I can’t force black men, any men, for that matter, to like black women. At the end of the day there’s plenty of fish in the sea and I only need one.

@Mentamir, you are simple and discredit yourself…..just because its “preference” doesn’t justify shit….some adults prefer to fuck children…..do you think thats okay too?

    p.s. I am a black man

    Mentamir Reply:

@truthteller, you’re comparing black men having a personal preference for white women to a crime. Why is it so wrong to date outside of your race? You would want for black men who are attracted to white women, to be with black women? Is that your idea of what is right? You would want them to act as if they love us, when secretly they’re just not attracted to us? I’d rather be with someone who genuinely wants to be with me as much as I want to be with them. And what if I would want to date a white man? Is that wrong, too? Was I born to be with a black man? I don’t think so. I refuse to think so. I love the colour of my skin, I love my heritage, but not to where I let it define who should like me and who I should like. That’s ridiculous and is probably robbing people from finding true love.

Much better. The first collection was utter rubbish. This is better. I like the colours and layers. I like progress. I would like to see how much of this HE actually designed. That would be interesting to know. I hate designers who just put there name to the label and dont design nothing.

    Progress!

@WonderLand19, Lmao… if he just wanted to slap his name on something.. he could have pulled a diddy, jay-z, russell, Jeezy, or T.I. You can tell from his approach and progression from his first that he isn’t just putting his name on shit! Plus, why would he wait until now???
SMH at niggas trying to find a negative in everything just to bring a nigga down to their level! Whats wrong with congratulating and keeping it moving???

I agree, he was seen going to every other show this week, so it isn’t far fetched to believe that he had to have somebody putting the show together for him, afterall he isn’t seasoned as a designer.

Why should I say something positive about so much cruelty that he supports ? People that ignore the fact how much harm these animals suffered for your “beautiful fashion show” are the real cowards, cause they cant face reality. When I see those comments I seriously lose faith in our humanity.

    DenimJunkieKidd Reply:

@Derya, If we didn’t kill aniamals for food and fur there would be no humanity, I respect you views but i don’t agree with them being a part of the fashion industry !!

    [Reply]

    Derya Reply:

@DenimJunkieKidd, what do you mean ? If it only were killing , its cruelty, what do you think why there are so many people protesting about fur ? English is not my mother language otherwise I would write everything down, but if you really want to know how its produced you should google it ! Its not “just” killing, its unbelievable cruelty that these animals suffer for. they skin animals, please just google it..

    [Reply]

    Mentamir Reply:

@DenimJunkieKidd, there are vegetarians. It’s possible to live without eating meat. I’m not sure if it’s possible for people who have particular health problems, but that’s another story… And without fur there would be no humanity? Well, maybe back in the day, where they actually used the fur to keep from freezing to death, but we’re way passed that era now. We even have the tools to fake fur. I think people should stop coming up with excuses for fur, because if we would all witness the cruelty that these animales have to go through, a big chunk of people would not feel good about wearing fur! I definitely agree with the fact that it looks pretty, but to think that an animal had to go through so much pain in order for me to temporarily look pretty just doesn’t add up for me. It’s not worth it. I can understand why we would eat meat for health purposes, I, however, cannot and don’t want to understand why we would kill animals for superficial purposes such as fashion. It’s not that I am a huge animal lover, far from it, but animals experience pain the exact same way as we do and I wouldn’t want to put physical pain on any living creature. That’s just cruel and ugly.

    [Reply]

    Mentamir Reply:

@Derya, I agree with you. I’m far from an activist who harrasses people and pushes her beliefs on others, but I can’t wrap my head around the fact that in this day and age, where we have fake fur, people still feel the need to kill animals. It’s not right and it’s not okay.

I like the concept of what his made, the designs are quite avant garde. His still in the experimental and unorthodox stage but I am sure that over time he will improve and develop his own unique style. On another matter, why does anything a person of colour do always falls down to race. Were all human beings , it would be good to see more ethnicity in the model parade but its the way they have been selected for these particular pieces. I’m sure over time different types of models will be used by Mr Kanye. His new to the fashion game so he will abide by their standards till he has made enough of a name for himself in that industry. Good luck Kanye.
