New Music: Chris Brown – ‘How I Feel’

Chris Brown

Chris Brown gets some things off his chest on the introspective “How I Feel,” a new track released online. The R&B sensation addresses the ups and downs of his personal and professional life including witnessing his mother being physically abused, his aversion to the media, fair-weather friends, and the infamous night with Rihanna from three years ago.

“Nineteen, a ni**a went through a tragedy/ Three years, a ni**a just found a better me/ Yeah, you might find another lover, but you always started with Breezy like the letter B,” he sings. Listen closely.

Why is he trying to portray himself as a victim? “Nineteen, went through a tragedy”? No, Chris… you INSTIGATED a tragedy.

You are not the victim here, child.

    @Nate,
you are obviously someone who didnt LISTEN to the track. BOTH of them were victims and were CHILDREN. You werent in the car, nor did you witness what really happened. His career took a turn and so did his entire life. Chris witnessed things as a child that has affected him, and music is how he chooses to release those feelings. Who are you to judge? And yet you rushed in here to comment. Point out where he said he was the sole victim. People need to LISTEN with CLOSED MOUTHS

All we know is Breezy is back at the top so lets support him to remain there.

The biggest issue for Breezy right now is not Rihanna, but the “demonic Media” and other opportunists taking advantage of his situation.

Breezy’s Grammy win cemented his victory over his enemies but they are now out for blood.

Chris was DEFINITELY a victim as well. Making a mistake at 19 and having the whole world against you. Chris at one point was even suicidal, as Rihanna expressed in her interview with Diane. He was depressed. His career was no longer promised and no one was even looking his way. He’s painted as the poster child for domestic abuse for something he did ONCE and took responsibility for. Rihanna never walked around in fear of Chris, nor did she express that anything had ever happened abusively throughout the relationship. In fact every time you saw the two, he was holding her or carrying her somewhere. Those 2 faced something critical in the public eye, but Chris received NO intervention from ADULTS. Now that he’s in a better position, people try to flock to him, that its hard to see who’s real and who’s fake. Chris went from NOTHING to where he is now, and the media still give him flack even though he has put in WORK and responsibility. I do believe they BOTH were victims, especially of the media who continues to harp on what happened 3 years ago. Rihanna and Chris are trying to move forward now and are in a better place, ppl should just leave him be!

so wait let me just get this correct for the ones callin him a victim…so because they were dating and he was txtin an old gf/sideline hoe idk but because he was tryna be a player and he got caught in some lies and confronted about it that makes it rihanna’s fault that he bite bruised made her bleed and choked he until she blacked out/caught shortness of breath im sorry love chris love the big comeback but how can you say he went through more then her we only know the story rihanna has to live that night over and over for the rest of her life meanwhile did chris have any marks on him yeah he might get internet bullied but rihanna comes on the internet and sick fucks are still tweeting that photo of her face to her ppl threathen to stop lovin and supporting her if she has any contact with him so tbh both have to go through shit but rihanna is much worst in my opinion

@what, excuse me. u were not THERE to know who instigated what. furthermore, i heard she had reason to believe he was cheating on her and decided to go through his fone. that’s a wrong move in any relationship, however, that doesn’t warrant anyone being beat up.
while i love Rihanna, i don’t hate Chris Brown. but it seems the Chris Brown stans ALWAYS want to blame Rihanna for what happened that night. And then you all say “her career has skyrocketed” like that’s a bad thing, especially after what she went through with the assault and the media afterwards. the internet is never going to make that incident go away- basically anything Rihanna-related that you type in on the internet and you scroll through images, her battered face is there. Do you know how embarrassing and awful that must feel?! Have a heart, regardless of which artiste you prefer. She didn’t beat herself up, and get off this “instigating” shit. Stop trying to paint Chris Brown as an angel that night, and what he did as an accident, and Rihanna as the guilty party who deserves what she got JUST because you may not like her. That’s disgusting and unfair.

I feel CB frustration, I mean it happen, he didn’t denied it and he is trying to move on from it and learn from it, but the media and the public wants keep him from moving on and becoming a better person. I read an article the other day about Mel Gibson getting help and is a change person on TMZ, but do you here the media not letting this man get the proper help and tearing him down for his past actions, no. There are so many celebrities who has committed worst crime and does get this much continue hate, even after Rihanna and her Father has forgiven him. I guest people want him to just die or something.

I can see it gets very frustrating and he lashes out on twitter to people who attack him, but we really can’t imagine all the hate he gets on a daily basis from the media, peers, and public. People keep saying that CB isn’t a victim, he is a victim from his childhood past and because people are not allowing him to move on from a terrible night and grow into a man and learn from it and break the cycle, it has to be very frustrating, but God forgave Cb and his victim Rihanna. They both want to move on with their lives. Cb stayed off twitter for months up to the Grammys and Rihanna was showing that she forgave him, and look what happen after the Grammys, people attack him for weeks after the Grammys. Even though their were so many other felonys at the Grammys. Only media coverage he gets is when he respond to people on twitter, all the charity work he does, you only hear about it maybe on the black blogs, the mainstream media never posted anything positive he did over the past three years. Those mainstream media only know about his twitter rants,GMAS, nothing else. The mainstream media will never show him in positive light or show the steps he is taking to grow. But CB has to realize is God forgave him and Rihanna and his fans, just stay positive and try to promote your album and music the best way you can, like you did last year through your own videos, webisode.

  31. China

And this is why people still talk about him beating up Rihanna, because both Riri and especially Chris continue to talk about it in their songs and interviews!
If they want people to stop talking their business they need to stop airing it out for the world to see.

    Very cool song though!

    [Reply]

    zania Reply:

@China, You must stay on the black blogs, because the mainstream media always talking about the incident, everytime CB perform on a major show, its the main topic about what he did to Rihanna and should he be forgiven. The media and TWitter is always talking about the incident and calling him a womanbeater and douchebag. Rihanna and CB is trying to find a way to get the media and people to move on, that is why they are talking about it. They did that song, so people can see she has forgiven him and please move on. She can’t move on either, because when they attack him they are also attacking her too. As a woman I wouldn’t want to keep reliving a terrible night in my life, but everytime CB show his face on TV or somewhere positive, the media harp on what he did to Rihanna and give the world play by play in their articles, so Rihanna can’t move on either. I think the media can careless about how Rihanna feel about the incident, they just want something negative to continue to write and hate on CB and make money from it, from views.

CB did that MJ tribute on BET and most of the viewers and peers at that show was moved and forgiven him. The next year he performed on BET and won multiple awards and it was about his accomplishment and rise back to the top and I can tell he was comfortable at that awards show, because people had moved on and concentrating on his music, not his mistakes. But all the other awards shows and mainstream media they want to focus on the incident when he perform, their articles are mainly about the incident then about his accomplishment. I think they are mad because he refuse to give interviews for them to twist his words and make things worst for him.

    [Reply]

  34. zania

The mainstream blogs commentators always talking about they don’t see a change in CB, because the media never post any positive things he does, they only let their viewers see his twitter rants and word it as he is lashing out anger on twitter, but if you really read his twitter rants, most of them or positive and he is defending himself, but the media word it as he is showing anger again. I think CB can beat all the negativity he gets from those blogs, if he did an interview with someone he trust, like Robin from ABC, I think she is really in his corner and she knows that the white folks who isn’t following his positive growth doesn’t know what he has done to better himself. I think she was really trying to help, because when I read the mainstream blogs comments, they are always looking for answers from him and what has he done to change his life. They are mainly people who doesn’t follow him, because you know the mainstream doesn’t report CB positivity.

He is a victim. He witnessed his mother get knocked around daily when he was younger. You think just because he was a viewer he wasn’t affected at all? Now I don’t think he’s playing victim here OR trying to apologize. He’s just saying what’s on his mind. Whether you like it or love it he for once is talking about something other than just chasing females. I respect that.

Can’t win for losing with people though. He says nothing and you’re angry he doesn’t speak and wants to move on. He says something, and you’re angry he didn’t say it in the way you wanted to hear it.
