Rap-Up.com || Dawn Richard Drops Preview of New Single ‘Bombs’

Dawn Richard is dropping “Bombs” with her first single. The former Danity Kane member gives her Hearts another glimpse into her EP Armor On with a preview of the explosive track, produced and written by Druski.

“I wanted the art direction to be cohesive with the song and sound of the EP,” said Dawn. “Warriors fighting for the same cause. ‘Bombs’ is the ‘Hearts have arrived’ record.”

She has also released a new promo image photographed by Emeranie, which pays homage to her New Orleans heritage with her showy headpiece and wardrobe, styled by Olori Swank.

“The Kings & Queens had the most elaborate headpieces,” explained Dawn. “And I wanted to exude that but still stay true to my affinity for fashion.”

Watch the mini-reel for “Bombs” below. Dawn’s EP Armor On will be available March 27 on iTunes.

@Redchainsaw, of course their artwork looks similar… THATS WHY DIDDY PUT THEM IN A GROUP TOGETHER! lol… but from the two… it seems as if Dawn is taking a more diverse approach to music… This girl is smart.. she took being in Danity Kane & Dirty Money and got a little from both to go her own route and still managed to stay true to herself. THIS IS WHY I LIKE HER lol. She’s an artist that learns and uses a little bit from here and there to create her own. #TrueArtist

Dawnie, now this is what production is all about. not that childish noisy production on ‘Fly’. Well done druski! d singing is actually coinciding with the beat unlike ‘Fly’ production where the producer seemed to be making beats for another song entirely.

@O.P.P, Uhh… did anybody get the Tell-Tale Heart mixtape??? This is the same style and sound she’s BEEN using. Kalenna dropped her first mixtape this year she is not the example on this type of track. Dawn (In my opinion) is the first chick of her kind. Where are all the Kalenna v. Dawn comparisons coming from?? Dawn has been working on this project since AT LEAST 2010! Kalenna just said several months ago that she wasn’t even putting out a mixtape (yet…. here we are today… with a Kalenna mixtape). So if ANYBODY is copying its K; but neither of them are. They both have their own style & swag. Kalenna’s a more aggressive look & sound (she sings like a rapper) & Dawn is laid back but effective. Y’all gotta let these 2 women express themselves without the extra crap attached. SERIOUSLY!!! Anyways, I’m buying this EP, asaaaaaap! I’m proud of you Dawn ; )

im from new orleans and i love how Dawn is incorporating her culture with the New Orleans Indians at Mardi Gras. the headpieces and feathers and bead work.. I think it totally goes with the tribal sound that she has been talking about. Genius!
